Is this a double holo error Shining Gyrados?

Hello all, I’m trying to get yours guys advice to see if this shining gyrados is one with the double holo error or just the regular holo. I’m not exactly sure how to tell the difference and would appreciate your guys help before I purchase. Thank you :pray:t3:.

Yes, it is. The double holo error (holo bleed error) only has a small line of cloud ink visible and the holo pattern extends to all portions of the card. The cosmos holo pattern does not shine through all parts of the cloud ink on a normal copy.

Thank you for this!! Appreciate it!! Definitely a difference between holo and double holo error.

Am I correct in assuming that this is a double holo as well?

Yes, you are correct. This is also a double holo error!

Nice! Do you have any idea of the rarity of these? They seem to pop up reasonably often.

The 1st Edition copies are significantly rarer than the Unlimited copies. Nobody knows what the print size was, whether it was localized to one country, etc. The other difficulty is conditional rarity, as most copies floating around are not in the greatest shape.

I’ve been keeping an eye on these since PSA started labeling them. Like @Dyl mentioned several lower grade Unlimited examples have been popping up, many in the PSA 4-7 range going for around $800USD and lower on eBay. Higher grades definitely seem harder to come by. A PSA 10 sold on Z&G a month or two ago, there’s one ridiculously overpriced PSA 10 on eBay now and lowpoppin has a PSA 10 for sale on their website.

As far as 1st Edition goes there’s been an eBay sale for a single PSA 4, PSA 7 and PSA 8. There’s also a freakin gorgeous PSA 10 listed. But that’s about it unless I’ve missed some. 1st Edition definitely seems tougher to come by.

I think a PSA 10 Unlimted will be doable for me one of these days but unfortunately the 1st edition is in that not-sure-if-I’ll-ever find-one category :smiling_face_with_tear:
