Is this Charizard Star worth grading?

Hi all,

I’d appreciate any input on whether it’s worth grading this Charizard Star. It’s been in a sleeve since it was pulled but there appears to be some symmetrical corner factory whitening. This seems to be the only thing wrong with it from what I can tell but I’m definitely no expert - I’ve included pictures below.

It’d be really helpful to hear what you all think this card would grade - and whether it’s worth grading based on the condition (for example, I’ve heard that cards shouldn’t really be graded if they’re below 9 or 10). I’d assume any damage is damage, but I haven’t really graded cards before so don’t know how PSA or other grading companies would handle rough factory cuts.

Id assume 8, worth grading for sure

Edit: its actually hard to tell, could you post a picture of the back with a darker background? Surface looks clean.

Either way a nm-m copy is for sure worth grading

Got it thanks! That makes sense - I guess unlikely it would get a 9 because of the whitening in multiple corners?

And yep here’s a picture of the back with a darker background, hopefully it helps

I think we’re around psa 7 territory imho. It could be still worth grading though, do you plan to sell or to keep it?

If it’s for your personal collection you should follow your heart, I’m sure it looks awesome in a binder,

I think it would be 7-8 depending on the grader. I’ve seen 8s at my local card shop with similar styles of whitening. I also have a PSA 8 that has some whitening on it also.

Depends on what you wanna do with it. Any condition of this card is probably worth grading imo. I agree with the 7-8 valuations. If youre trying to sell it, grade it. If youre keeping it in your collection, its up to you if youd rather have it in a binder

those corners are a somewhat common issue for dragon frontiers. That being said, you should grade it even if its a 4

Thanks everyone! Probably leaning on keeping it in the binder for now - but if I did sell, it would be better to sell it graded as a 7 vs. ungraded? I heard that it’s not worth the grading fees/effort if the card doesn’t get a high score

You’ll have a much easier time selling if it’s graded. And you’ll likely get more money for it. If you plan to sell, definitely get it graded! I agree with others that it’s a PSA 7-8.

Maybe it’s just my unpopular opinion but selling cards that are 8 quality raw at their graded price is 100% do-able. Now granted this is a gold star and it’s a Charizard so it’s more expensive.

I personally would put this cards raw NM-M value at it’s PSA 8 value. Idk too many English set cards that get massive premiums in 8s these days. Let alone 7
