Is this ex series pack resealed?

I recently purchased this ex Ruby Sapphire pack on Ebay from a seller with 100% positive feedback but when the pack arrived it looks kind of suspicious. The weight is exactly 17.23g which I do not believe to be that far off the true weight of one of these packs.

I wanted to see what you all think: is it resealed? there is a vertical crease on the front down the middle of the crimp and some lines over the crimp on the back of the pack.

If it is resealed or very likely resealed, I will just return it. If it is 50/50 and I open it and find it to be inauthentic do you know if it possible to still receive a refund? Does it depend on the seller? Or would this be covered in the basic protection from purchasing on ebay?

Looks basically identical to my RS packs (which I know to be authentic because I’ve opened others from the same box). The crimps look good (if they were flatter that would be a red flag) and the pack appears to have no rips or signs of ever having been opened. So either it’s an exceptionally good reseal, or it’s just a pack that wasn’t stored well. My bet is on the latter.

@zorloth , it ended up being resealed! I opened it and it only contained energies :slightly_frowning_face: seller had 100% positive feedback over 9 years of history, so be careful out there sealed collectors! The seller might not have known about it but you never know

Wow that was a really good reseal then. Scary for collectors of sealed product.

Was the flap on the back already pulled off from the crimp?

I never touch a pack where the flap is already disconnected.

@galalyth, it was, but it didn’t have any evidence of wear from that, the separation was super clean. Good rule of thumb though to not touch those - I am thinking from now on I am only going to purchase box breaks or in tact blister packs from this era.

Wowza! I’m sorry to hear that. Looked pretty damn good from the pics. I would’ve been curious to see how convincing it was in person when directly compared to an authentic pack – I imagine it would’ve been clear in person, but tough to say without having handled it, of course.

@zorloth, yeah, they got the weight exactly right because they were all water energies from RS as well, probably from a theme deck. I had a suspicion from the general feel of it but wasn’t sure, thankfully the seller issued a refund right away but with no explanation. Do you think I should leave a bad review/report them? It feels like the seller probably knew but I’d hate to ruin someone’s reputation if I am wrong

What makes you feel that way, could you elaborate? If you’re confident about it, you should bad review them immediately.

even if the seller wasn’t being dishonest it’d be wrong to not let other potential buyers know your experience, can’t imagine these are cheap.

Wow from the pictures the pack looked fine to me.
At the very least I’d leave neutral feedback.
If the seller is honest a single instance of bad feedback won’t ruin them.

@c0ll3ct0r , it mostly just feels pretty sus to immediately give a refund and not say anything about it. If I sold a pack and someone claimed it had been resealed I would at the very least say something in the refund but probably do much more than that

@qaiz , @islandcollector , thanks both, I am going to leave a negative review saying what happened

Also, I just found out that the same seller had sold two packs earlier that same week I bought it - is there a way to make sure these folks check their packs as well? From what I can tell it seems reporting the seller is the only option because maybe ebay will notify the buyers

That issus, sounds like the seller just wants you to just accept the refund and move on without thinking too much about it. Maybe someone new to selling reseals, not used to the buyers actually opening them and calling them out on it. Leaving some sort of feedback alerting other buyers to it is the right thing to do here if you ask me. Now, negative or neutral…I’d probably ask the seller for an explanation. If that explanation is unsatisfactory/inexistent, I’d leave a negative feedback and/or report for sure.

I wouldn’t leave negative feedback because it’s very possible he just wasn’t aware. And he refunded you right away. I would personally just move on without leaving feedback, but leaving neutral is fine here. Definitely not negative, IMO.

I feel like you have to draw the line somewhere for negative feedback and selling resealed product shouldn’t result in positive/neutral. What’s feedback for if you can’t warn other buyers about your negative experience with the product sold. I don’t care if they knew it was resealed or not, it’s not a positive/neutral experience IMO.

When I’ve had situations like this but I was otherwise taken care of, I usually still leave positive feedback but detail in my text what the issue was. Something like “item never arrived but seller was accommodating and replaced it for me,” or “received the incorrect card but they let me keep it on top of the refund.”

Agree with @zorloth and @stagecoach. Having been on the seller side where something goes awry (granted we’re talking about things like an item lost by the shipping carrier, not resealed packs) and I do everything I can to make it right but the buyer still leaves negative feedback… it’s infuriating. The seller not asking for any further details in this is definitely odd, but there’s too much uncertainty to drag them on that imo. Neutral feedback with an explanation seems appropriate here.

I would leave a neutral feedback. If I am looking at buying a sealed product, I want to know if the seller has a history of selling reseals. I don’t read positive feedback as it is usually generic bs. I only read the neutral and negative comments. Giving a neutral will warn potential buyers that this guy sold a reseal pack and it could happen again. They could be scammers or just don’t have enough experience/knowledge of the sealed product. I wouldn’t want to buy a sealed item from them either way and would appreciate the warning.

Oh dear this does make us really worry how well it was made :slightly_frowning_face:
