Hey everyone,
I received this Japanese Neo 2 pack from ebay and immediatly noticed some really strange marks on it. It’s hard to describe. It kinda looks like there would be a clear foil layer on top of the colored one, with the one beneath being slightly crimped. You can also feel a hump by brushing over it with you finger. On top of that, along the crimp there’s something that could be interpreted as some kind of clear residue.
That’s hard to say actually. I can feel a bulge along the line. Kinda like there would be a crimp in the inside, but the outside is flat. And the thin black line is definetly not just a reflection, it’s acutally missing colour.
Also there is this weird residue. Hard to capture on camera.
You wouldn’t be able to get a card out of the slit, but I guess it’s just enough to check the holo card on the front. Dunno, I’m not really happy with this pack.
Just felt like I should share this information. I ended up buying another Neo 2 booster in better shape from a Japanese seller, who, judging by the listing and the great pack condition, pulled it directly out of a box. That’s the new pack:
As you can see, it has the same issue on the top right corner, only to a much smaller extent. So I guess it’s fair to assume this is a rather common production issue with these boosters.
Little heads up: if PSA 10 graded booster pack collecting ever becomes a thing, Neo 2 packs might become the T17 of boosters
You can still get them for <50$ from Japan. My advise is to buy them now, as they’re bound to rise. Last auction for a Japanese PSA 10 Espeon was well over 200$, I expect the next Umbreon auction to end around that price, too. I guess you know what that means
Honestly while I’m happy I got mine for ~45 USD, the chance of pulling a Ho-oh or even a Shining Magikarp/Gyarados makes ~80 USD still a pretty good deal IMO. With a bit of patience you might luck out on an auction like I did. But only as long as people keep sleeping on these
Remember, they have a 100% holo pull rate, so a big hitter could be lurking in any pack.
