Won this in a lot off Buyee. I’ve never owned a crystal type card before, so at first glance this card seems somewhat different texture wise than other cards from that era. It’s almost textured kind of how a VMax is on the actual Charizard portion. I also tried to find proxies or fakes on google and couldn’t find any. Am I just paranoid now?
It looks both very fake, and a little bit real at the same time.
Colors seem too dark, and card seems too grainy for sure. But these could be camera effects. Top border looks a bit thin, but this could be centering.
Though if you mentioned it is textured… and this is the “grainy” thing we see on the picture, that’s definitely a problem since this card isn’t supposed to be textured.
Any chance you could get us a video uploaded? That would probably be much easier to tell. Including footage of the back would help a lot.
Something is definitely up with this card. I took an image from the listing and compared to a graded copy. Either the edges are trimmed or it is a replica. Nothing seems out of place aside from the border being too thin. I thought maybe it is the frame causing the difference, but in your pictures the borders are similarly thin. Here the comparison:
E: Just spotted the ID next to the weight moving an uncomfortably large amount. I’m assuming fake at this point.
Yeah I’m thinking this is fake. The front has too many things wrong with it. The back looks pretty real, but it looks like it is from the wrong period like HGSS instead of Skyridge. It may be a sticker put on a real card.
Yeah , it’s just very odd to me I couldn’t find any images of a fake proxy or a replica. Also weird to have an English card coming from Japan. I’m learning alot of lessons fast from Buyee and myself sadly. But at least the rest of the cards in the lot were fine .
Looks totally off to me I’m afraid. Coloring seems off and the borders are definitely suspect. The above comment on the “id” moving is the biggest red flag
You should stick to buying small things on Yahoo until you get a better feel for the platform. That auction you linked is a textbook example of what to avoid.
It looks like you need to buy just graded cards from reputable sellers or auction houses. No more Yahoo Japan for you man. I’m guessing you’re looking for these killer deals and that’s how you’re setting yourself up to get scammed. Like they say if it’s too good to be true then it probably is fake.
Dude I’m not trying to be mean. It’s just so painful to watch you get scammed out of huge sums of money
