Japanese Adventure Cards

Hey everyone, I’ve recently started collecting Adventure Cards. The problem is, I have no idea what most of them are, or if they’re even called “Adventure Cards”, so searching for them is proving a little difficult.

For the most part they consist of groups of 9 cards whose backs, when put together, make a larger picture. For example, here is 001 to 009:

Back

I’ve been putting together a research document on these which can be found at github.com/PokeTCG/research/blob/master/AdventureCards.md. The tl;dr version is that I only know cards 001-018, 027, 030, 043, 045, 048, 050-052, 056, 068-070, 072-079, 081-085, 087 and 089-091. For some reason they broke the whole 9 card picture thing between 037 and ~066 (057-066 might be another set), but then went back to it from 067 onwards.

I know that there are at least 93 cards in the set, but have no idea if there is anything after 93. I also know that there are unnumbered cards, like this one, which you can currently find on eBay by searching for “Pokemon card Lucario pikachu pocket monster JAPAN Very Rare JAPAN anime F/S” (you can see why I find it difficult to track them down!):

If anyone knows which cards I’m missing, or what this set may be more commonly known as, or anything else, I’d love to know!

If anyone knows what any of the missing entries are, I’d absolutely love to know.

I didn’t want to reply to this because I did my own searching…and I was completely stumped. I found nothing. Just didn’t want to make it seem like no one is paying attention to your hard work and thread!

Hopefully you’ll be able to uncover this mystery and enlighten us with the knowledge

I have no info for you but these are very cool looking, great collection!

Are these associated with the newspaper promo card box as well.

I always forget the name and era or these. But I think there was an introduction box for this set, with cards which look like newspaper articles.

A good start to my day today - I’ve just purchased 2 new listings on Mercari which help fill in some of the gaps.

Firstly, this one, which reveals 9 of the missing cards, 038, 041, 042, 044, 047, 057, 058, 061 and 065:

And secondly this one:

Whist not a complete set, attached to this listing was also this red card:

This reveals all of the cards between 019 and 036!

I’ll update my post above containing the list when these cards arrive.

One of the missing cards from the second listing is 032, Torchic. There is one of these cards available as part of a set currently on Yahoo Auctions, but this listing alone is more than what I paid for the above listings, so I think I’ll have to pass on that one for now.

Speaking of Yahoo Auctions, this listing is for PoS cutouts. One of them includes the unnumbered Adventure Card shown in my first post in this thread along with what looks like a Poképark Latios and Latias card, which may be the 080 card I’m missing from the Poképark set:

I don’t collect these any more but for the sake of @quuador 's new thread I figured I may as well do a picture dump of these. I do have an outdated page documenting the set list on GitHub: github.com/PokeTCG/research/blob/master/AdventureCards.md - it’s worth noting that I have cards pictured below which I’ve not added to this list, mind you.

I have 81 of the 93 numbered cards that I’m aware to exist. I don’t know if any exist above 093.

2002 - Advanced Generation #1 (001-009)

2002 - Advanced Generation #2 (010-018)

2003 - Jirachi: Wish Maker (019-027)

2003 - Gotta Dance! (028-036)

Unknown (037-066)

For some reason they then broke the nice 9 page front cards and back puzzle-style image between 037 and 066. No idea why. I’m not sure what this part of the set commemorates, either.

The 6 blank spots at the end of that page are simply padding between 066 and 067 - from 067 onward they went back to the old approach of puzzle-style backs.

FWIW the backs of these cards look like this, each featuring a different image from the anime:

2004 - Destiny Deoxys (067-075)

2005 - Poképark (076-084)

This was the set which got me into these in the first place and is definitely my favourite.

2005 - Lucario and the Mystery of Mew (085-093)

Misc (unnumbered)

This is a set list card for Jirachi: Wish Maker (019-027) and Gotta Dance (028-036):

This is an unnumbered card from the Lucario and the Mystery of Mew (085-093) set:

Those are awesome! Why did you stopped?

I have an Adventure card not included above. It seems these continued past 2005, as mine appears to be from 2006 and associated with the Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea movie. Interestingly, the card numbering may have restarted after the 2005 set, as mine is 04:

@agentman007 that’s really interesting, thanks for sharing. I’ve never seen one like that before!

Haven’t seen anyone else post about the Bandai/Carddass Adventure Cards set, so thought i’d revive this on e4um’s.
I have put a bit of work in on the set for the last 2 months and been highkey obsessed with the concept of Puzzle Cards (9-card puzzles) in a 12-slot binder that has 3 extra slots for a List card (a Bandai thing, don’t worry about it) and two extras… the extras I like to flip around the non-puzzle side and show off any doubles I get of what the extra side looks like as I use nicer binders than transparent sleeved ones.
ANYWAYs.
I’ll update this later when I have completed the last puzzle in the set, the PokePark release. I think this one is one of the most popular because it’s not a movie-based set, it’s off the existence of the 2004/2005 Pokepark in Taiwan and Japan. Additionally in my exploration …er… “Adventure” if you will… i’ve come across a Darkrai puzzle set, a Manaphy Puzzle set, and two generic Diamond/Pearl puzzle sets (possibly 3).
None of what I just mentioned are in the “Set List” -proper that @pichufan was talking about except the PokePark one (totally has the numbers on the cards).
To close off my addition to pichufan’s post, I’m tossing in pictures of the middle of the set that is neither park nor movie related, and in my opinion is the beating heart of purpose for this incredibly zany and strangely inspired set creation, the Adventure Cards (proper) that tie in to the anime.
Enjoy!

And lastly, this is the last two puzzle sets that i’m having difficulty sourcing:
I think i found all the cards but they want some wild prices and then i can’t even find the last card of the last set.
