Japanese Pokemon Center Exclusives???

I am just getting back into Pokemon and I have noticed that there are a lot of Japanese promotional exclusives, especially sets only available at the Pokemon Centers in Japan. ie. the Mario Pikachu set.

I have 2 questions:

  1. Does Pokemon have press releases about upcoming promotional sets/cards?

  2. What is the best way to purchase these Japanese sets/cards? (the prices on ebay seem much higher than the original purchase price in Japan; can you buy direct from Pokemon?)

Any tips you have on collecting these Japanese exclusives will be much appreciated!!

  1. Pokemon Center has their own news site. I don’t have it offhand but that is how they do announcements.

  2. Buy a plane ticket, fly to Japan and buy them yourself! Unless you live in Japan and have access to a center, you will probably need to incur fees at some point. Whether it be from middlemanning the Pokemon center online or items from y!j, people don’t just pick things up and sell at the price they got em for.

Hope this helps!!

Have fun browsing.

The best advice I can give you is to stay active on this forum. Every era has its own promotional set, and every promotional set has its cards that will be very limited. For example, in the XY-P era you have the Team Rocket promos that came in the briefcase, the new year countdown Sachiko and many more that are very rare. For the SM-P era, even though is recent, you have the Royal Mask with only a 100 cards. Why did I tell you stay active here? Cause more than likely you will here about them here first whether is as an announcement or a collector needing help acquiring it.

P.S. Welcome to the forum  !
