Japanese Unlimited Gold Star - low pop vs 1st Edition?

I see on the PSA pop report, the Japanese unlimited Gold Star for many sets have much lower population than their 1st Edition counterparts, except for 2004 Clash of Blue Sky.

For example, 2004 Rocket Gang Strikes Back Treecko, 1st Edition has 55 graded cards, while unlimited has only 5

In general the number of unlimited edition gold star graded is 10% of the 1st edition ones.

Is this due to the unlimited cards being printed less, or because people prefer to collect and thus grade the 1st edition versions more? Any insight would be helpful.

Sure. People prefer 1st Ed,

It was very low print for the ex series pcg/adv.

Unlimited was printed quite small, so some sets have way less.

Like the dragon frontiers… I see 1st ed ones pop up all the time. But rarely see unlimited gold star zards in comparisooin.
