Just wanted to see everyone’s general thoughts on Korean Pokemon cards I personally collect English, Japanese and Korean. I think they are a cheap alternative when I am not really liking a newer set and don’t want to spend a lot of money. So I will buy Korean to open a few boxes while I wait for a newer set I want to collect in English or Japanese.
I collect Korean
I only ordered one card from the Colourful Legends set because the Mew card from it had a different set symbol (I collect Mew cards ) and they’re very hard to get if they’re not from the new sets. Otherwise I can’t give much of an oppinion.
I love Korean, they can quickly get expensive since out of print stuff rises in price dramatically. Base 20th CP6 boxes were $25 upon release, now I cant find a single box under $40. English EVO and Japanese CP6 are still at regular retail price in the same time frame… Also Korean has horrible pulls rares so be mindful to that. It’s like one ultra rare in every 10 packs, instead of the normal Japanese/English ration of 1 in 4.
As far as card quality, it is AMAZING. I’ve never had a Koren Card with any issue. Even centering which sad to say even Japan suffers from time to time. They make English cards look like garbage in comparison.
The biggest con it has against it is PSA will not grade anything besides base set, I think that holds many collectors away.
Hmm Hmmm Hmmmm… Lol
This is the only instance, but I’m just picking. Korean cards do have good quality overall, which is funny because I usually refer to them as the “poor mans japanese cards.” But that’s only true upon their original release anyways. After a year or 2 it becomes the opposite.
One thing I’ve really noticed about them is once they go out of print, as Maverick said, they become super expensive, and the older they get, the tougher it becomes. I know that’s true for everything, but especially the singles. If you are looking for a certain Korean card that’s older than 3 years, it’s insane. It’s a needle in a haystack scenario. When I was searching for my full art Regigigas in every language of release, the korean version was hands down the most difficult one to find. Beating out spanish, portuguese, french, german and italian. I haven’t seen a picture of one other than my own. Nearly considered buying a box to try and pull it…
Overall though, I’m glad they exist. They’re a nice smaller area to add to the tcg. Pretty sure Shizzle still needs unlimited korean gyarados lol. Unlimited base set for Korean has to be one of the toughest sets to find cards from. Unlimmited Spaghetti (Gabriel) somehow found the niche within a niche when he got a secret wonders korean charizard. Just knowing that card exists and the set was printed is difficult enough to believe on it’s own because of the lack of information.

I bought at least 10 boxes of Korean Base 20th CP6 boxes when they first came out the prices were as low as $17 on Amazon so i took advantage. I normally will only get 1 box of each new set but for sets like Base 20th CP6 boxes and Shining Legends I will buy more because I really like these sets FYI the Korean Shining Legends set quality is great I would recommend if English or Japanese is to expensive.
I collect the Korean 1st Edition and Unlimited base set cards from the year 2000, not into the new releases
I collect Korean (and any other language) Pikachus, Sevipers and Mimikyus. Apart from three latest Sun & Moon releases, and the Black & White Secret Rare, I currently have all Korean Pikachus, as well as all Korean Sevipers and Mimikyus in my collection.
As for the quality: when I opened packs I see ink dots pretty often. The card quality itself isn’t bad, though.
Also, just like @regigigagod , I have a miscut Korean card (bottom right).
