Leds light Damage to Pokemon Cards?

Been wondering if Leds could fade cards, considering the sun does it pretty fast.

Are leds a problem in the long term? Question comes because im ending my new Display room with plenty of cards exhibited in blocks that have led lights pannels on top.

I’ve heard from many sources that having them on for long periods, could end in card fading/damage in a long term.

Any info on this? (I saw the post regarding sun fading, but this is more like Led fading since i wont be letting the sun into this place).

Thanks in advance

Pretty sure LED produces UV, but a smaller amount than natural sun light.

I have also read somewhere that blue light LED is strongly believed to cause cancer? The last thing you want is your PSA 10 1st edition Charizard getting cancer.

UV is the biggest enemy. Fortunately LEDs produce negligible amounts of UV light

But over time, any source of light will cause an accumulation of irreversible damage on your cards though. Ideally you should minimize the lux, or light intensity your cards are exposed to and/or the duration of time your lights are on. The less exposure time and the lower the lux, the longer your cards will last

Thanks for this solid reply! Im going to be turning them on for short periods i guess.

Not all sunlight is bad, I mean this card is pretty badass lol

I’ve seen that and also someone trying to sell a PSA8 Crystal Nidoking (sun faded) as misprint. lol

That does look pretty cool. Maybe I should leave a CoroCoro Mew in the sun and make my own.

Yeah I wanna buy like a NM one and sun fade it and then get it encapsulated. Would look pretty cool in a slab imo
