All of us here have benefitted greatly by this fabulous fourum. Many of us have contributed back by hosting giveaways and donating directly.
That has helped immensely and is much appreciated by the folks who do tons of work to keep it all going and together.
Let’s all continue to do our part in keeping this a top class Pokemon site attended by the worlds leading Pokemon collectors.
At the bottom of the home page is a ‘Donate’ button. Periodically let’s all visit there and and help keep Efour alive:)
IT WAS MY IDEA TO MAKE THE DONATE BUTTON SO IN TURN I AM A LIVING LEGEND AND I HAVE DONATED WHAT EVER EVERYONE DONATES, AND ILL BE TAKING ALL THE CREDIT… FEAR ME.
I messaged smpratte, and mentioned it just before they did it muhahahahah When you were angry about not being able to advertise your service xD I simply said, for people that arnt using scotts psa service that they can use donate button if they want… and just generaly anybody.
It’s a good idea, i always tried really hard in the christmas secret santa to give a good gift, and that was a good way that we could all get together and trade / give back.
I always am hesitant to donate. I’m not trying to cause a huge debate, but where does the money go, once donated?
Our giveaways are usually gifts done by members & we still have ads on this site. I just want clarity before I take the plunge.
The website hosts a lot of images and we do not limit them. We also leave the entire history available so people can read the oldest posts they want.
As such, the costs of hosting go up but never down. There is a monthly fee for the website that Scott pays out of pocket. The ads are entirely negligible. You need tens of thousands of weekly views to make ad revenue touch the actual cost of hosting a forum or a website.
We don’t get any money for ads. I pay everything myself. Including some of what Charlie mentioned, I pay monthly for storage space and any outside work/coding I need for the site, things along those lines.
With that said, I am not one to ask for donations. Why I started the grading service is to provide something for members while also helping the site. With that said, I appreciate any help or contributions.
Its easy to find an excuse to take advantage of the site but give nothing back. If you’re a tightass then just keep trolling around taking, taking, taking. Fortunately we have many grateful collectors to support in your place.
Relax. I think he was genuinely just looking for an explanation of the costs. It gives us an opportunity to open up about what the real costs of the site are and show how generous Scott has been in funding it for us.
For those who don’t know, I want to clarify for any possible misinterpretation. Basic proboards is free, However, storage space costs per month. So do any add ons, keys as they call them, which we have multiple. Plus paying for graphic designer work, people to help/maintain coding, those are the main expenses.
Again, I appreciate any support, but do not expect or ask.
Yes, you’re right. It’s just that i may be the least tech savvy person on the internet but even I know of the costs to operate a site.
I’ll try to be nice:)
