Hi, there! I’m new to this forum so please let me know if I do anything incorrectly. I collect Scyther merchandise and when I made a post on a Pokemon collecting community that I was after a few specific cards, a fellow member pointed me to you kind folks. These are the last few cards that I’m missing from my collection, and I would love to finally track them down.
I’m looking for NM/M condition on all of these, if possible. I’m flexible on price.

I’m also possibly looking for a Japanese 1st Edition version of the Dark Explorers Scyther (Picture here). It was part of the Zekrom-EX Battle Strength Deck, which I’m not 100% on whether it had a 1st Edition run. If anyone happens to know for sure whether or not it did, I would be greatly appreciative.
Fun alleged fact, Scyther was intended to evolve since before Gen 1 was released. Scizor just happened to be one of the original 190 Pokemon that didn’t make the cut into the game.
I can’t speak for snap… But I’ve never been a Scizor fan either. While I don’t mind the core body design, I don’t much care for its claws. It bothered me that the pinchers don’t have any kind of pinching thing in the middle. They look like giant pockets. Kind’ve a downgrade from scythes in my book. I have a few sprinkled into my collection by association to Scyther, but I much prefer my mantises green.
Choice Band Technician STAB Bullet Punch…very good. I personally prefer the offensive mega set (max Atk, max Speed). It sacrifices some bulk but outspeeds and OHKOs common threats like Heatran and Specs Magnezone with unboosted Superpower after rocks. Catches everyone off guard. I pair it with specs Keldeo on my teams as that deals with lots of things that beat offensive Scizor like bulky grounds (Hippowdon, Lando-T) and Skarmory.
LOL yeah i’ve never been a competitive gamer, it is purely design and nostalgia based.
Scyther was a BEAST during the original series but didn’t get a lot of attention (like many others). That grasshopper with sword arms is seriously badass to a 9 or ten year old, not to mention it’s impressive call (just remember it being really different and well suited to its demeanour).
Then Tracy caught one and it was the greatest thing ever. Pokemon knew scyther was a fantastic design that they had underutilised and so decided to throw a scyther evolution called scizor onto the already lightspeed thrashing HYPETRAIN for gen two (it was literally one of the most talked about things amongst my friends leading up to the new release). So everyone got around scizor and couldn’t wait to evolve their scyther and all they were left with was a TERRIBLE backward step in design of poorly coloured (I hate the colour red to begin with), balloon handed, too oversized abdomen (crotch area), jacked up thing that says it’s name no differently to anything else.
Scizor should never have been released, it should of been thrown away as the designer shook their head and said, what the shit was I thinking, I guess you have to have a few terrible designs amongst the good ones.
IFFF they HAD to have scizor they should have just included it as a pair type thing like hitmonchan and hitmonlee or as a nemesis situation like serviper and zangoose. But no, they took one of the best designed pokemon of all time (to this day) and JACKED IT. Also didn’t help that I have OCD and hated the fact that they started evolving shit across generations and totally jacking up the pokedex. Don’t even get me started on baby pokemon. How in the shit could THE FREAKIN MAN professor Oak not know that a magby and the others existed when every magmar and others anyone has ever seen has evolved from them.

I cant hold it in anymore … snap i love scizor, he was one of my favouritves in pokemon silver all those moons ago as a youngin. I really love syther too… I remeber getting the coin thingies over and over again in celedon city to get syther with the coins
There should be an entire thread on why everyone hates the pokemon they hate, and it has to be a child hood reason xD
