Mew Holo Southern Island 1999 japanese Promo SIGNED ?

Hi Friends,
I’m a TCG collector from Argentina, new in this forum, it’s a pleasure to be here.
Today I added some new cards in my collection and got this mew. The seller bought it some years ago from Ebay. I don’t know if the signature is from Keiko Fukuyama (no other signed card or signature from this artist found in google).
Does any know if it is real? Or if it is from another artist?

Looks real! The autograph belongs to Dr. Sameji, who I believe did software design work for Pokemon for the GameBoy TCG games. According to my buddy who collects autographs/old decks/everything in Japan, he is “not an important person,” but his autograph is cool and notable because of the shark.

Hi, thanks for your replies!

I’ve found this about Dr. Sameji on ebay other items. There is a grand party trainer (japanese) and a charizard base set (japanese) each one for $2k. A neo genesis lugia is also about $700.

. It is signed by Dr. Sameji, a convention/tournament frequent and Pokemon promoter. He hosted a popular pokemon radio show in Japan until about 2001. His signature is quite rare.

Dr. Sameji is a big part of the Pokèmon community in Japan,he is the post of a Pokèmon radio program from 1997-2001 called Inuyama Inuko’s Pokèmon Hour.

How much do you think it’s worth?

He signed his name in the outline of a shark. The Japanese word for shark is same. His name is sameji. That’s jawsome!

The only signatures I could find (didn’t go to deep) were all from 1999 - 2000, if he doesn’t sign cards anymore, that would make it pretty exclusive.

Great Card, cool signature.

Any word on PSA authenticating them?

I’ve got a reply from PSA:

Good evening!

I have forwarded this information to our research team to see if we can get it authenticated. We have a lot of inquiries currently, so it may take some time before they get back to me. I will let you know as soon as I have any information.
Sincerely,
AR

I have some News :grinning:.

Psa wrote back again:

Hi Matias,

Just wanted to reach out to you and let you know I had to pass these images on to another department to see if we can authenticate it. So I am working on it, it might take some time though.

Not so bad. Maybe this year I get it authenticated.

That’s a very nifty autographed card. Congrats on getting it!

Psa replied to me 2 weeks ago:

"Good evening Matias,

I apologize for the delayed response. Our team has gotten back to me and at this time we are unable to recognize his signature. Thank you for inquiring!"

Then, yesterday I saw that one card from Japan International Trade was authenticated with Dr. Sameji Signature. It seem to be the first one ever.

Card number is: 43119038

So it seems that now I can send it to PSA

That’s some shenanigans saying they can’t recognize yours but they clearly could recognize someone else’s!

So BIG update on this - I recently just bought a collection on this “Dr Sameji” Signature which has been signed on a base set charizard card.

Listing was kinda sketchy but I’m going to receiving from japan within hopefully the next month - Unsure of what to price this gem because of the nature and rarity (And also market boom)
