Misprint Pokemon Coins?

Hello, I recently contacted a friend to get his opinion on these Pokemon coins I acquired. He suggested I ask here to get a better idea of a value or where they came from.

First we have a Shaymin and Kyurem coin that has the color and foiling technique from the Lycanroc coin:

Shaymin and Kyurem

I noticed that I couldn’t find any information on a release or even a picture on the internet of these coins in this color, so I started looking through some of the other coins I got form him and I found a few more oddities.

Here we have an Umbreon coin in a very shiny metallic red and a Tyranitar in a similar color.

Last and is a Hoopa Unbound coin that has the foiling technique of the recently released Pikachu coin.

Any help determining a value or information on where they came from and if they are actually misprints, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Some times there are variation of the same coin depending on when and which boxes was released with the coin. example: the original chansey coin has 5 different variations.

I understand, but most releases and variations have been documented. Also to my knowledge the Kyureum and Espeon coin has only been released as part of the box sets and to my knowledge they have never varied the coins in the box sets, only the decks and whatnot. I also have yet to even find a single picture or mention of these coins outside of where I got them. Not on eBay or any of the other coin dealers I frequent. Seems strange…

I would be hesitant to say that there is plentiful documentation for tcg flip coins. While there is information out there it is sporadic and has many holes at best. People that do have any collation of information don’t give it out easily if at all. It is one of those “side collections” people tend not to care about. I however have accrued some data best I could and have a decent list, see my sig.

As for your questions…I have seen one of the gold kyurems listed on ebay, it didn’t sell and while I would have liked it, couldn’t source any info and coins for me are just a side thing if i get them cheap enough. Pictures can be deceiving and an individuals interpretation may be swaying to the side of only making a sale! The shaymin I have not seen but noticed a new green rainbow variant pop up for sale recently. Unsure yet what product it comes from so cant comment. The Kyurem (provided it is of the larger type) would surely be from the Battle Arena Decks. I know of 2 white kyurem variants but don’t want to say too much more on this variant as I havent seen it in a product so lets put it down to an error at present although such a difference seems it wouldnt be an “error”.
The m tyranitar could also fall in this catagory as I only have a cracked ice version listed from its premium collection box.

The umbreon may be more on the side of an error as it looks to be a color difference, although significant as oppose to say a bronze and gold waving pikachu which is super subtle. Yet again I have never seen this variants and could only assume it came from it’s respective box.

The unbound hoopa was a later variant release from the ring of lightning theme deck. For the last good handful of xy theme decks to present they have been releasing the later distributions with alternate coins. This also goes for some of the boxes but its very random.

Value is subjective. There is no pricing guide and sales vary considerably. While some coins are everywhere and some rarely show up its down to either individuals worth (buyer/seller). While these could have a rarer worth, as you have said, no information so that scares people away from paying a premium.

Nice to see another coin person pop up. How many unique coins do you own? If you have any info or want to help with my check list, either information or images I would be interested to chat. Im also interested as to where you obtained these. pm me if you dont mind to talk about anything.

Cheers!

They won’t hurt the price much if at all. I wouldn’t like them personally.

@canman202020 isn’t very active here, but he is big into the coins.

Thanks for the info! Yea all I collect is the coins, pins, and to a lesser extent pogs. I am actually the person who bought those gold coins on eBay (small world eh?). The seller claimed to have worked at the factory were they are made and these were from a batch that was thrown away due to it being misprinted. I didn’t hold any weight to that story, but it was a coin I didn’t have so I bit. After I got it I made a deal for 4 of the Kyurem coins and 6 of the Shaymin coins. After that, I tried buying the rest of them, but he shipped them loose in an envelope and only three made it to me  Currently in a Paypal dispute with him.

I have only been collecting coins for about two years, but I have managed to get 290 unique coins. That’s counting the small size, big size, and the card board coins. I also have about 80 of the battle coins, hundreds of pogs, and few other interesting coins like some Meiji Juice coins, preorder coins, etc.

Some of my collection can be seen on this Facebook page I used to run: www.facebook.com/Pokepin/

I kinda let it go due to low interest.

LMAO Canman is one of my favorite eBay seller! Didn’t know he was on here, guess I should’ve assumed.

Love the items you posted on your Facebook page!

@japanime Thanks for the kind words! I am a little off the wall in what collect, but my number one passion is Pokemon pins. Goes back to when I was little kid collecting the Kanto badges at league. Had to ramp down the collection due to the holidays and my daughter being a December baby, but I will get back to it

You should have bought my coin collection. canman bought most of my collections (cards and coins)

@elam18 I probably bought some of it lol. I did have most of the bones of my collection before going on eBay. I actually got most of my coins on an auction site called Listia. Most of my 1st wave Japanese coins I got from Canman though. I also like going to the Charizard Authority for pins and whatnot, but Canman always seems to have those obscure coins.
