For those of you looking for a Mitsuhiro Arita Autograph, you are in luck! Mitsuhiro Arita will be returning back to Honolulu, Hawaii this July (from the 13th to the 21st) and will be doing autographs and a live art demonstration at the Aloha Card Shop.
Space is limited, but they stated he will be doing a number of live demonstrations around Oahu. Details regarding ticket purchasing for the event is still being finalized, but will be made public once its concrete.
Would anyone be going to see mister Arita at his upcoming signage event ? Was hoping too see if I could get a slab signed , or if anyone knows someone who provides a service that will be going please let me know
@alleybro it might be hard to find someone as the online rsvp just closed to those who did the early sign up. To make things even more difficult is that this event only allows for 1 item to be signed unlike the past Hawaii Pop Con that allowed for 2 (1 with a sketch with any personalized name either in katakana/kanji/english + 1 with just a english signature) and the person attending has to have an ID that matches the reservation. If you are in Hawaii, there might be a chance you can still register. I heard that they may open up the leftover slots to the public, but their online reservation link is currently down as of right now. The only other option is to find someone who will be attending to have sign your item, but it would most likely be addressed to that person’s name.
Thank you so much for letting me know , I hope mister Arita visits Canada at some point in the near future. Maybe the only chance I get for a signature and too actually meet him.
What’s interesting is that the Aloha Card Shop mentioned that Arita has the authority to not sign certain items and it is at his discretion on what can be signed. They even recommended to bring back up items…I wonder if he will pass on certain cards or if he will just avoid signing large bulky items.
It’s refreshing to read this , I would be happy with a sticky note signed by mister Arita ( preferably green with a Venusaur sketch ) if he refused to sign my slab.
Just something too look at here and there but frankly , it’s best I go see mister Arita myself too always remember that experience
Ah yes, it is always better if you can go in person as it would be more meaningful. Hopefully he’s able to one day stop in Canada and you can make a trip over to see him.
Arita will be signing every day from July 13 - July 21. Each day there will be appointments at 9am, 10am, 11am, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm. The only day that will be different is the 17th. On the 17th he will be doing a live art demonstration at Ala Moana Shopping Center and he will only have afternoon signings.
So there’s a rather important update. The signings will only be on the 13th, 14th, 17th, 20th, and the 21st and there will be no sketches on any of the cards . The card autos will also be addressed to your name in English and the autograph will be in English as well.
You can also get a cool looking Shikishi that he will draw and its up to whatever inspires him. Oh and you can take a picture with the legend himself! I thought that was nice.
My wife got a real cool Usagi Yojimbo inspired one.
Thats actually what one person mentioned. They said that the Pokemon Company is currently in town and that he’s probably just being extra cautious. I just hope for his future events he brings back the sketches on cards.
So this event was actually a lot smaller than Hawaii Pop Con and was a bit more of an intimate setting with only 6-10 people per hour (that I saw. I came early for my time block at 10 and stayed until half way through the time block after me. But ya I bet he still is making a lot since he’s selling his merch as well.
Apparently, the rules of this event are a bit “loose.” Someone just posted a card they got signed, and it includes a kanji autograph with their name addressed in kanji. It seems a bit unfair, but that’s just life sometimes
So I had one more ticket for today and was able to get a card autographed in Japanese. But today Arita really outdid himself with the morning drawings. I got this amazing Shikishi done of a Birthday Cat (inspired by Himeno’s Birthday Pikachu).
Apparently for this event if you choose “sketch” as your option, he will draw whatever comes to mind. But if you choose “inspiration” you can select up to 5 words and he will draw something from that.
