Just going to leave this here and let discussion ensue. Seems every possible test print is making its way out of the woodwork these days, this time on an upcoming Heritage auction.

Yay test prints/prototypes!
Big FPO vibes. These will go high
Curious what info was available here to make PSA comfortable authenticating
My (possible) condolences to @citriina if you consider these as variants for your collection too. I’m certainly relieved for the moment that there isn’t a Staraptor in there haha
sad eevee noises
sad Larvitar noises
Were we hoping for our species to get more test prints? Feels like you dodge a bullet by not having to fork out thousands
Oh. Ohhhh nooo lol.
Thanks for the tags @Ratequaza and @trainerjack - yeah, these are going on the master sheet, lol. Unfortunately two new cards I’m never going to own, but it’s cool to see them out in the wild!
This was my question as well. I’d be curious to hear some more information on what exactly the testing was for, but knowing PSA I assume they needed something slightly more concrete to be willing to authenticate these.
From what we know, at the very least two separate and verified sources.
Probably in the minority here. I put a lot less trust in PSA regarding any test print/prototype/beta/blah blah whatever than I do in CGC at the moment.
While all around there are too many of all of these hitting the market before proper information is rereleased to the public, CGC at least has some proven track record for them in my opinion. PSA doesnt.
I want to be wrong, but I worry there is part of PSA just wanting to compete with CGC, and rushing to authenticate the wrong things.
lets hope PSA not doing CGC things
Wait, why are DP test prints fine but FPO not?
These are very boring to me. Anyone else?
I didn’t add the Eeveelutions Delta Species test prints to the spreadsheet. To me something that was meant for the factory only for production testing purposes doesn’t need to count.
This reminds me of the charity auctions for the first production car VIN 001 of the newest generation Corvette. VIN 001 isn’t the first one made, just the first production car made. GM probably built 10-20 mules for design, testing, and tuning purposes prior to 001 being built.
Odd that these are Japanese language cards, but the word TEST is in English? Something seems off…
That’s totally fair! I’ve already accepted that there are some cards I’m never going to own (SDCC, Finalist Tropical Wind 2008, Illustration contest Arceus/Zoruas, etc), but I like having them on my own spreadsheet anyway.
As for test prints, match prints, FPOs, or other factory-only cards, I do like to have them catalogued, but they’re not going to be on my buylist anytime soon. I just can’t justify a down payment on a house for one piece of cardboard imo.
Something that I also noticed upon zooming in is that there are a bunch of different Japanese sets represented here- DP Entry pack, Palkia half deck, DP1(? I can’t read the number here). I’m very curious as to what made PSA comfortable with authentication.
