My Humble, Ever-Growing Everything-Shedinja Collection

Hey everybody,

Thank you for your helpful responses and even more so for your warm welcomes following my first efour post the other day. In getting to know the forum a little better, I noticed many members have posts sharing their incredible collections - I have to say, for pretty obvious reasons, I love seeing your single-Pokemon collections the most - and so I thought I’d make good on @mrbubbles’s request and put together journal of everything I have picked up so far.

I’m not sure when exactly I began collecting cards and merchandise dedicated to Shedinja. I’ve been a Pokemon fan since the OG days; spending all my pocket money on packs at the nearest corner shop quickly became a weekly tradition around 1999-2000. Regrettably, I moved away from Pokemon for some time, in my teens, as I suppose I viewed growing up and away from something that could be perceived as ‘childish’ as being necessary for my social survival, but inevitably, and thankfully, I fell back into playing the games at around 17/18 and a few years ago rediscovered my love of the cards, getting back into collecting with 2022’s Lost Origin expansion.

I’d estimate it was probably only 2-2.5 years ago I set about on my never-ending Shedinja hunt. One day, having long since decided that the strange little floating soul-snatcher was my #1 'mon for life, I just kind of thought ‘hmmm, it’d be quite cool to own one of every Shedinja card’ and that was where my collection began and ended, for a long time. More recently, I started noticing more and more odd and interesting types of obscure, vintage merchandise and, as they say, one thing lead to another. It has snowballed over the past few months especially - to the point where I felt compelled to start an Instagram page just for my collection, as encouragement to properly research what each piece was, to share pictures, ask questions and hopefully chat from time to time with likeminded collectors - and so I continue to pick up bits and pieces whenever I get the opportunity.

In what will hopefully be something resembling a sensible and legible fashion (finally) here is my Shedinja collection. I’ll skip the straight-forward Pokemon TCG cards, as much as I love them, just because I’m sure they’ll be by far the most common and will feature often. That being said, if you’re super keen to see them, let me know and I’ll be happy to oblige. Oh, and just to save me typing everything out again and taking a punt at breaking the record for efour’s longest ever post, if you’re intrigued by any single item or piece of merchandise, I’ve tried my best to research precisely what it is and when/where it came from and have written about my findings in the description of each Instagram post, so feel free to check them out if you’re interested in knowing a little more about (or seeing additional photos of) any given item.

So, in no particular order:

And, uhh, yeah. I think that’s it. For now. Phew. Congratulations (and thank you) if you’ve managed to get this far. There are, as I said before, plenty of cards as well as a few PSA graded ones I’ve neglected to include here for brevity (yeah right) and plenty more information on each, should you want more. It has just occurred to me I could’ve wrapped all this up in just a handful of pictures of the binder pages most of these live in, but where’s the fun (or procrastination) in that?

Lastly, if I’ve made any heinous errors in titling any of these incorrectly, or if the formatting of this post is just frankly ridiculous, then please let me know your feelings as kindly as possible. Until next time!

Awesome! Thank you for making the thread and showing your collection. It is really awesome to see such variety of collectibles barring the usual TCG. It is always fascinating to see what species collectors have in their collection and you are really introduced to a lot of other official merch.

Are you in the hunt for something rare or exquisite? Would love to know what your ‘grail’ pieces in your collection would be.

Thanks and cheers!

Amazing collection. I enjoyed reading about your collecting journey. I think many of us shared the drifting away when we were teenagers and then coming back to it when we were a bit older. Look forward to seeing what you add next.

Glad you enjoyed the post, man. Thanks!

If money were no object, I’d definitely add two extremely niche TCG cards to my Shedinja collection, both of which were actually pointed out to me by @quuador a couple of years ago, on Reddit. They’re the Japanese XY-P Art Academy Gourgeist, which has a tiny Shedinja hidden amongst it, as well as the SM78 promo Champions Festival from 2017, which has a Psyduck wearing a Shedinja t-shirt. I love them both purely because of how absurdly obscure and missable those Shedinja are, but the cards are super inaccessible in terms of cost and availability… which only makes me want them more!

I’d also love a Shedinja error card, actually. Having a unique error Shedinja of some kind would definitely feel rare or exquisite to me!

Thanks for sharing your collection! Some cool pieces here :slightly_smiling_face: Non-TCG is always a pleasure to see because of the variety of items and the random items certain pokemon will (or will not) pop up in (like the Mega Bloks—I hadn’t seen them before, but they are awesome). I remember using Shendinja in my playthrough when I was young, and I thought Shedinja was incredibly badass because of his ability. Conceptually, Shedinja is just really great too—in terms of how you attain one and also his design (love his little halo).

I, personally, would love to see the TCG side too. I know Shedinja has some great arts and would be happy to see your collection!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your incredible collection here. I am thrilled to see such a polished and well-presented display of the amazing collectibles you’ve acquired. Hopefully, there’s more to come, as I’m eager to learn more about the fascinating items out there that are alos of interest to any species collector.

On that note, I’d love to see your TCG cards as well. If you could share them here, that would be fantastic!

Thank you, everybody, for such a pleasant response to my collection. I’d imagine many of you would agree that our collections start out as quite a personal endeavour, very much something for ourselves and to scratch the itch of our own specific interests, but I really underestimated just how rewarding it would be getting to share them with likeminded folk.

As a few people asked to see them, I’m more than happy to share my TCG collection of Shedinja cards. This time around, I’ll do my best to share the images (originally taken for my Instagram) in chronological release order. Crossing my fingers that the grid photo function serves me well, I’ll condense the cards into the respective releases with Japanese and English cards alongside one another. If any cards look duplicated, that’ll hopefully only be because one is First Edition and the other isn’t, or one’s reverse holographic or vice versa. I hope you enjoy!

  • 2003’s Rulers of the Heavens (天空の覇者) 006/054 and EX Dragon 11/97:
  • 2004’s Clash of the Blue Sky (蒼空の激突) 038/82 and 2005’s EX Deoxys 14/107:
  • 2008’s Temple of Anger (怒りの神殿) DPBP#343 and Legends Awakened 40/146:
  • 2009’s Beat of the Frontiers (フロンティアの鼓動) 016/100 and Supreme Victors 44/147
  • 2012’s Dragon Blade (リューノブレード) 018/050 and Dragons Exalted 48/124
  • 2015’s Emerald Break (エメラルドブレイク) 011/078, ‘Premium Champion Pack’ (EXxMxBREAK) CP4 and Roaring Skies 11/108
  • 2018’s Fairy Rise (強化拡張パック フェアリーライズ) 015/050 and Lost Thunder 95/214
  • 2020’s Amazing Volt Tackle (仰天ぎょうてんのボルテッカ) 042/100 and Vivid Voltage 066/185
  • And, finally, my very small, assorted set of PSA graded Shedinja cards:

My only gripe, with the non-graded cards, is that they’re not in the best of condition. I can be quite frustratingly impulsive - especially when it comes to buying things that aren’t exactly a necessity  - so speed definitely won out over taking my time to ensure I bought the best quality cards. Nevertheless, I love them and will most likely be content with these for a pretty long time.

Anyway, thanks for sticking with me until the end again. I hope you enjoyed the post and if you ever happen upon something Shedinja and you think maybe I’ve not yet seen it or added it to my collection, please do let me know!

As I thought, Shedinja has some pretty good arts in the TCG! Love the EX Dragon one especially :slightly_smiling_face:

The non-TCG world is vast! I’ll keep an eye out for Shedinja items and can check to see if I have any in my own various things (probably not much, but I might have one or two items).

Thanks again for sharing!

Amazing collection! One of my favorite part of the hobby is seeing someone collect their favorite Pokémon. Specially something as unique! Thanks for sharing.

Awesome collection, both your TCG and non-TCG collection! Thanks a lot for sharing. I always love seeing collections of a single Pokémon like this, especially since I do the same for Seviper and Pikachu.

PS: Maybe you’re still looking for it, or perhaps forgot to post it, but just in case: the Japanese Pt3 Beat of the Frontiers set is also available in unlimited edition. That seems to be the only Shedinja you’re currently missing.

Greetz,

I’m glad you enjoyed the collection, thank you for saying so (and, again, for your help along the way!)

Ahh, man, you’ve got a good eye, haha. I’m glad you reminded me because I’d actually completely forgotten I was lacking that card. I couldn’t remember why I didn’t have it but just searched for it on eBay and found almost nothing - was immediately reminded why it’s currently missing! But I’ll certainly be trying to add that when I can.

Wonderful to have another species collector here, especially when it’s a not so often collected pokemon and you are going for both non tcg and also variants like unlimited japanese cards! Can’t get much better than niche collectables of niche pokemon

Thanks very much for the kind words! I ought to have known there’d be lots more collections out there that are of a similar ilk to mine - it’s so cool seeing them! And it only serves to reinforce the old adage that every Pokemon is somebody’s favourite, which I love.
