My Mewtwo Collection

Hey y’all I just wanted to make this post to document my journey on collecting every single Mewtwo card out there starting from 1st ed base until now. So far I have an empty binder and a lot of slots to fill but I’m ready to knock some spots out. I’ll be updating the thread weekly to document my progress, and if I enjoy it a lot, I’ll even start one for different Pokemon. Lastly, I’m deciding on which should be the prize gem of the whole collection. Right now I’m torn between PSA 10 Gold Star Mewtwo or 1st ed Shining Mewtwo. If y’all have any other suggestions as to what would be a good master piece would be, please let me know.

Edit 1: Here’s my first update 1 week into the collection… I’ve picked up 29 cards so far and I’ve made a spreadsheet to track what I need and how much I’ve spent. I’ve picked up a lot of singles from my LGS and Troll and Toad so I’m a little bit nervous that the cards will come in damaged because it’s from there. Overall though I feel pretty good about where the collection is heading. Still trying to find someone with that 2019 Battle Promo though. The hunt continues.

Definitely start with the GS Mewtwo, much scarcer than the Shining.

+1 on SSB, but that’s unrealistic for 99.9% of people. I’d say a more realistic goal is PSA 10 gold star, I like it more than the shining

Before I had my Gyarados collection, I almost dedicated my collecting journey with Mewtwo. That is to say, I am so pumped to see this collection of yours grow. Mewtwo is one of my all time favorites. Wish you the best!

Personally I go for the older the better, so shining would be my pick, good luck gathering them all!

I definitely like the gold star a lot, I may have that one be the PSA 10 for my collection

Thanks for the options, I really like the 2019 Japanese Hyper Rare Promo, the gold star, and the 1st ed base so I think I’m gonna decide between those 3. But those are long term goals overall. Who knows maybe in the future I might actually be able to afford the SSB card, but until then, thanks for the suggestions.

Here’s a week 3 update to the collection. I picked up a lot of solid cards and have spent more money this week than I’d like to admit. But I’ve now picked up 46 cards in the collection. The highlights for this week are: 1997 Carddass Mewtwo in mint condition, the Gold Mewtwo & Mew GX, the Rainbow Rare Mewtwo and Mew GX, Holon Phantoms Reverse Holo, Test Tube Mewtwo, and the rumble holo

Personally I believe that the shinning Mewtwo is more under valued at the moment.
I think I personally prefer the gold star artwork, but I think that the shinning is more likely to go up in price more and soon.
Just my opinion.

Most definitely I’ll be posting pics! I just got a nice binder to display the cards in and I think they’ll turn out pretty nice
