Ok, folks, I am curious what you all would do if there is a premiere Neo first edition that looks just fantastic. A card you been wanting for a while now. However, the description says there is a small scratch within the case. I believe I can get the card cheaper than market value because of this. Now, I can’t see any scratches in the card or case based on the photos, but the seller is highly rated and I believe will do their best in showing me the damage to the case.
My question is, is it worth getting this card, get it reslabbed and run the risk of the grader marking it down? Again, I must iterate to the naked eye there doesn’t appear to be a scratch on the card.
Thank you in advance.

@pipborick, This is only anecdotal, but when the damage is to the case and only cosmetic, PSA has never downgraded or upgraded a single card that I’ve sent for re-slab. I’ve probably only sent 5 to 10 in for this purpose in 10+ years of grading, but I guess nothing is guaranteed.

How could the inside of the case get scratched?

If you recase a card the card will receive the same grade it had before unless the damage to the case (potentially) caused damage to the card.

Here’s the official wording on PSA. Weird to see someone reference the scratch as inside the case rather than just on the case.

My guess is faulty manufacturing which made it pass product inspection.
