Does anyone collect NFL cards or follow the hobby at all? I’d like to start collecting, probably just picking up cards for my favourite players from the past, but it would help to get an understanding of the market so I’m not overpaying. Forgive me if I’m missing a discussion elsewhere, but does anyone have any good resources or YouTube channels for a beginner?
Should probably add I’m mainly interested in mid-90s to present, not looking to go too vintage
Update: bought my first card for $1000 on a BIN and then saw the same card go in a Probstein auction for $500 weeks later. We’re off to a winning start
Hey man i’m a huge football card collector. My main wheelhouse is slowly accumulating the rookie cards of every hall of famer I grew up watching (manning, brees, brady, megatron, adrian peterson, etc). I am pretty active on the subreddit r/footballcards, and they have a really good community for asking questions, posting new pickups, etc. I also watch the podcast Card Talk on youtube. They cover all sports but its fun just to listen to a couple guys talk about sports cards for an hour while I workout or whatever. I also like the youtuber market movers who works for sports card investor. That channel is much more about the numbers rather than just collecting as a whole, but can still provide good insight. He uses metrics on how prices of current rookies and stuff are doing to predict moves in other parts of the hobby. I hope this helps!
