No Charizard 1st edition?

Everywhere on ebay has acutions that has nothing to do with charizard. A listing of a Chansey but have no charizard 1st edition in title that cant be allowed can it?

Just one of the many annoying things that you’ll see - welcome to eBay

It’s very annoying indeed. There’s even non pokemon related items with such titles, usually yugi-oh cards or other similar collectables.

Is it reportable though?

I heard years ago from someone, that they added stuff like no shunting Charizard gold star 1st with whatever they were selling, because they didn’t have any charizards, and people asked them.

Ironically, more people probably ask because they list it that way. And at this point in time, it is just to spam searches

Yeah they’re just adding the right keywords so people will come across their listings.

As far as being reportable, I highly doubt it. It should be though. I doubt ebay really cares as long as they get their fees.

Time for the ultimate irony

I Was thinking about making a thread like this too, I see this all time from all kinds of sellers on new cards and older.
Is this really a brilliant sales tactic that were missing out on? lol

It’s reportable. Select “Listing Practices” for the report type and “Search and browse manipulation” as the reason for report. Choose whatever details fit best. I report this when I see people dropping 1st edition, PSA, and mint into the title for a listing of a heavy play single.

Not sure how this report negatively impacts the seller.

It reminds me of the tags on YouTube videos where people can put whatever they want and possibly have that video show up on other search results.

I’ve seen something exactly like this before “Mew WOTC Black Star Promo (NOT EX, Gold Star, Shining, Holo, 1st ED)” lol

It’s really widespread at this point. @britishcolumbiazards does something similar. Good guy, but I’m not a fan of these listing practices tbh.

You are right it’s a little shiesty. I will give you that. Lots of people go on eBay and are in search of one particular single card. Like Charizard Goldstar or Charizard 1st edition. But then there are people like me who are looking for good deals on pretty much any of those bigger Charizard Cards. Personally I don’t mind when people do it, because it limits the number of saved searches I need to look at to see what I’m looking for. I may be looking for a 1st Edition but a really nice Charizard of another kind pops up that I’m interested in. It’s not necessarily what I’m looking for at that moment, but now it has caught my eye. Yes I understand the morals of it could be a little annoying but when you are on eBay to reach a large buyers database… well im just reaching a slightly larger one. And I don’t believe people will not buy my items because they don’t like that. Maybe some might. But most, are just worried about price! Sorry guys! Haha

Also I noticed when you have a base set card that’s NOT 1st Edition for sale you put “1st” base set. While not as blunt or obvious, still the same idea… Don’t you think? Haha.

Thanks for calling me out though

Yeah you’re right, it is a bit greasy. I kind of stole that from a high profile member here that lists stuff as 1st base unlimited edition or something like that. I tested it and honestly I don’t really get much more views than when I don’t add that so I’ll just list things as honest as possible from now on.

By the way, when you’re listing Charizard cards there’s no need to add anything extra. It’s literally THE most searched term when it comes to Pokemon. People will see your listing, don’t worry about it.

It’s called keyword spamming and isn’t allowed on eBay.

Just report the listings and hopefully eBay will remove the listing or as a minimum ask the owner to change the title.

To be fair even the leader and founder of this forum has done it. Listed “charizard reprint” when selling CP6 packs. Instead of just listing it as CP6 packs.

It’s stupid, its annoying, it causes problem but it works…

You mean the set with the literal charizard reprint?

Since nuance is difficult, I’ll explain the difference for the slow learners. People ask all the time, “is this the set with x card”. When I am looking to buy a 1979 opc hockey pack, all the listings say “Gretzky rookie” to let people know that’s the set that contains Gretzky rookies.

There are some really great examples that prove your point about keyword spamming. This isn’t one of them.
