Card of the week - Nov 5th - Nov 11th, 2014****Zapdos - Quick Starter Gift Set
I have recently taken a liking to this set of cards, I wanted to use the Articuno from the same set as the card of the week but I couldn’t find a stock image big enough of the Japanese version of the card. I love this Zapdos and the background at the Power Plant.

Never saw that Zapdos before, love the art so much it looks like I have to pick one up now. For me I like the rattata the most though, the cheese is too adorable.
The art was so good in the VS set that they used it again for the Quick Starter set!
Can’t get enough of this art and it’s my favorite of Mewtwo. Though I do really enjoy all three of the legendary birds in this set, especially Articuno.
The vending sets are some of my absolute favorites. Aside from the ones already mentioned, my top choice would be the kabuto in test tube. Everything about this card is perfect to me: art, colors, details, content, you name it.
There are a heap I love from this set, one of my favourite creations showing fan made art, some get quite intricate with the backgrounds, its awesome.

The Quick starter cards were sold as a set in a box. The main differences are the gloss on the vending series and regular card stock for the quick starter set and there are no rarity symbols on the quick starter cards (I think). I’m sure you already know but the Master Ball, Scyther, and the 3 legendary birds were made holographic for the quick starter set.

Yeah, its interesting because I think I have the complete gift starter quick set green / red. But I don’t have that ditto card and the Kabuto card pictured above…
I think they are just from regular vending series or something, not the quick starter.
OMG I can’t believe I forgot this card.

I completely agree with this one. I love how it sort of depicts Kabuto being restored.
I recently sold a PSA 10 version of the Articuno, that card was absolutely gorgeous too.
