…get a better understanding of what the artist was thinking when they created the card, the exhibition features comments from the creators who designed each piece on display. With 50 artists each commenting on one of their illustrations, it’s a rare and exciting opportunity to learn more about the talented minds behind the art.
Looks like there is a neat online card art “museum” coming on August 10th. I hope to see some high res versions of card art! Actually I just found some screenshots of what it will look like:
From August 10, 2022 to October 22, Pokémon fans can enjoy the magnificent and diverse imagery of the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Online Illustration Exhibition.
So excited for this, but also saddened that they’re not looking to keep it online permanently.
Overall very impressed and love being able to see high-res images of some of these artworks. Would definitely go see a gallery like this in person if there was ever an exhibit.
My main gripe is there’s a sizable modern slant with the curation of the gallery (outside of the history section). I can see why, as this is another form of promotion for the current TCG. I would’ve liked to see some cards from pre-SM in some of the habitat sections, for instance. I feel this would also give a much more stylistically rich view of the TCG, but again I feel that wasn’t their goal with the choices.
IDK what OS you’re using, but make sure that the file extension hasn’t been removed. If it has, you might replace the .jpg, .png, etc so it knows what it’s trying to read…
