With the never ending record prices being set for WOTC and EX era, is it only appropriate to assume that DPP/HGSS will now be next to follow suit?
Personally, I grew up with WOTC when I was very young, about 6-9 years old during that era. However, I was back into it for a bit in late middle school/early high school once fourth gen came out. I believe there’s a lot of nostalgic factor for fourth gen just like there is for the first three gens.
Thoughts and opinions on the future market for DPP and HGSS?
It didn’t have the same wow factor cards like gold stars or 1st ed shinings, but it did have some good things. I don’t exactly know the print quantities or when nintendo started to ramp back up production. Production quantities steadily increased with ex sets and hence they are respectively priced (generally). perhaps a poke historian could enlighten us as to the popularity and production trends during that time
I think we will continue to see price rises, albeit not as large as previous ones, for stuff up through XY. Once we got to XY and especially PRC-on with the reprints, printing numbers and grading skyrocketed and while there still may be eventual rises, the game totally changed.
You and I have similar collection goals so it could be us preaching to the choir. I don’t see HG/SS DPP over taking the pieces of the BW era. Quality was so bad and things were just getting popular. Sets like plasma storm, dragons exalted and dark explorers are going up extraordinary for only 6-8 years old
