Sorry I couldn’t read the post with all the Honus Wagners covering my screen.
This is definitely a claim that needs proof. I remember someone popped on here saying they had a pallet of Skyridge boxes, but didn’t want to share photos until I gave them and offer/deposit…
It is an interesting situation to be in for someone who needs the external validation and needs to try and brag or boast about their hoards. 99% of the time these are probable fake or greatly embellished stories. Sometimes though they are indeed real.
If someone talked of a binder of thousands of gold star dogs years ago you’d rightfully be skeptical without photos. Well there is now a video floating around and sales on eBay as well as PSA pop reports confirm that specific hoard was real. I’m still personally shocked at what prices those command.
Again I’m not saying the trainer deck hoard nor the skyridge box hoard are or are not real. The fact of the matter is there are legitimately some mini hoards out there of different high priced and obscure product that would surprise most people. Quick liquidation by the seller or even full disclosure by the seller of the quantities they have through video or photo would be the worst thing any hoard owner could do value wise. That is largely why something like Art Academy is so intriguing to follow how the artists sell on and in what quantities and prices and how that effects the market. No other card do we know the true production numbers nor can we track so closely exactly where every copy and how many of them reside.
is there a summary / the whole story behind the gold star dogs? all I read is that the guy stole or purchased them from a factory worker. These gold stars have awesome artwork, but their origin keeps me back on biding on them…
People always exaggerate things in their mind like this, if it was 10 years ago and he was slowly selling to not saturate the market why have so few sold in those 10 years?
When the B decks first came to market some guy was selling dozens over a few weeks, it’s likely he found a few boxes full of them. Unlikely to have the A decks in large quantity though
@guangjoe, Ah yeah there were a couple individuals trying to offload hundreds of boxes of Chinese Legend Maker. I remember talking to Rudy (Alpha Investments) on the phone about someone offering him a ton for 40k.
