Oversized Italian Cards

I saw an ebay listing a few months ago posted on a thread or in the Discord here showing these giant Italian base set cards.

Can anyone remember what the proper name is for them or have a link to the ebay listing?

Cheers.

Quuador posted about them in his collection thread: www.elitefourum.com/t/quuadors-collection-pikachu-around-the-world-autographs/14735/319.
The eBay listing for them is here: www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Pannelli-Maxi-Carta-GIGANTI-56x40cm-x-2mm-Italiano-Collezione-Rare/123626027312

Thank you.

Does anyone know anything about these?

According to the seller: “Alleged distribution ± 2000 for some event / promotion from the colors and quality of work they look like an “official” article. (if anyone has any more information I would be grateful)”

I bought a Charmander and Nidoran from him. I asked if he knew anymore information about them. All he said was that they were acquired from a photographer 18 years ago. Who knows if they are legit… the print quailty is outstanding. Would be nice to do a direct comparison between these and the English ones.

Yeah, he told me the same thing. Apart from that the only information I can give is their size (height 561 mm; width: 399 mm; thickness: 2 mm), and that the English ones (and probably these Italians as well) were usually used at tournaments and events as background. My Italian Pikachu and Lightning Energy also have a minor puncture hole in the middle of the top part from the thumbtack where they most likely hang with onto a wall.

Here is a picture of the English ones at the background of a tournament in a Pokémon shop:

The ones I’ve seen in English (all in possession of @thecharizardauthorty I think): Fire Energy; Grass Energy; Charmander; Nidoran; Switch; Potion; Doduo. And then the Pikachu in the image above, although it hasn’t popped up anywhere.

The ones the Italian seller was having available: 2 Charmeleons; 4 Charmanders; 1 Doduo; 4 Machop; 4 Male Nidoran; 2 Potions; 6 Fighting Energies; 4 Fire Energies; 2 Grass Energies; 2 Lightning Energies; and 1 Pikachu. From those I bought the Pikachu and one Lightning Energy:

These Italian ones are all from the 1st edition Base Set. The English ones are a mixture of unlimited edition Base Set, 1st edition Base Set, and Base Set 2? Not sure why.

The only other Engligh one I had was the Charmeleon(sold this one and grass energy). These Italian ones look to be a little different. They seem to be larger, have softer corners. and possibly not as thick. The ones I have are very rigid.

Oh, that indeed seems to be at least triple as thick as the Italian ones I have. How thick are they (in mm)?
