Paid $400 for Test Print cards from Jungle

I paid for these cards: $355 and $385. I wrote about it in several places with varying responses. But they were all extremes: „you overpaid and you’re a fool” or „what amazing cards”.

What do you think about these cards?

My humble opinion is that everyone collects what they like. I’d rather pay $355 for a POP 1 test card than the same amount for another Charizard POP 10,000.

I wonder if anyone on the forum also bid on something from Test Print?

Idk how real the “test print” part is, but they are pretty cool I think. I don’t like how people can cut up sheets of cards and cgc (and other grading companies) will grade them…but thats outside my control clearly. I think $400 is fair for what they are honestly. I’m glad you enjoy them. I don’t put any thought into low pop as a metric for collecting something. All the cards I own/enjoy have hundreds of thousands of copies

There are a lot of opinions there :arrow_right: Probstein123 Auctions 50 White Border Jungle Test Prints

For me, the background and context of [sloppily] chopping these cards out of a sheet (of which the purpose of the sheet in the first place is unclear) makes them something I don’t really care for.

BUT that’s just my own opinion. For $400 you can certainly do a lot worse, at least these have some unique quality to them.

I don’t mind cutting out cards and grading them. As for the low population, I understand. Some people collect for arts and others for rarity. Sometimes both of these things

I’m happy you got these cards and I hope it brings you happiness! My thing is on these cards are what could they possibly be testing that wasn’t already figured out during base set?

I think the price is reasonable. I expected them to go for more. I certainly considered bidding, but they just don’t align with my goals.

Could be a test print. Could just as easily be a misprint that was caught, maybe?

Regardless, they’re interesting. And the main thing is you’re happy with them!

You’re right. I also wonder if there are more white borders sheets like this. I posted information about one of them in that thread, but this one is from Base Set, not Jungle.

You being happy with them is the most important thing. If you enjoy something, don’t let others try to ruin it for you.

Personally I like that the cards are unique, but the way they were cut personally doesn’t match what I want to collect. At least yours were cut better than the majority.

looks like for a theme deck

Overall, I agree with both the sentiments that you propose, those being:

  1. Collect what you like (which you did)
  2. More interesting than a pop 10,000 Charizard

That said, I think for me personally I would be more interested if I knew what the story was behind them, or if they weren’t cut so sloppily. As I said in the other thread, if you have made the decision to slice them up, why on earth would you not make the edges look as good as possible?

In any case, there is no question they are unique and I’m happy you like them!

Good point. I ask CGC on forum about that. And why they add „Test Print” on label. Hope they will respond me

While you’re at it, you can ask them why they don’t add “hand-cut” lol

Confirming that this sheet is for Jungle preconstructed theme decks, Power reserve on top and Water blast on bottom.

I do think not factory cut (NFC) cards should be labeled as such by grading companies if it can be confirmed.

My opinions about the cards can be seen in the thread that pfm linked. The most important thing is that you like them, not what other people think.

I think it’s impossible to confirm the card was cut at the factory or not. I mean straight cut cards using appropriate tools, not scissors.

Personally I love them, I was able to grab one of the Pidgeot cards (my favorite Pokémon ) and I’m so thrilled to own it!

My gears are already turning though. I wonder if I could crack it, have it professional cut then re-submit to CGC or even PSA (if I get the corners rounded) for a higher grade.

This would be a reason why many people don’t care for these cards. Seeing an NFC card already graded by CGC doesn’t sit well with many, but if PSA started to grade these due to buyers trimming and rounding the corners, that’s bad for everyone.

They could also then possibly be passed off to buyers that wouldn’t know better and think they were factory cut.

Fair! I’m all for the labels stating they are NFC. Doesn’t change anything for me! Also, whether this is a test print or some kind of a production error doesn’t matter either IMO. What we have is a vintage pokemon WOTC era card that has a freaking white boarder and it’s cool. No matter how you look at it :joy:

Talking about population is pretty pointless since PSA won’t grade these. It really feels like CGC pushes the line when it comes to grading items such as these.

They really need to have a higher standard with things like this and avoid grading just to get attention and hold it over PSA. And this is from someone that likes CGC and has submitted with them.

As for the cards, they are cool and interesting. It would have been nice to see them cut professionally but I definitely get the appeal. If I bought one of these I’d crack it out and try to even the borders as much as possible.

Ohhh so PSA will only authenticate them then? Meh.
