PapaFrankGod Yu-Gi-Oh! Old High End OCG PrintRun Guide

Ofc not, that’s what I dont like about the yugioh community, all raw cards, all private sales, all hiding information, I personally know a lot of collectors who bought some of these cards so I can say some prices are real, others are just offers made but not accepted, others just speculated. Ocg high end world sadly is not backuped by any grading company, that is why yugioh keeps being a joke among other cardgames, but yeah sadly old ocg prize cards are managed by Asian collectors that never grade or share the sold prices. I took into account auction yahoo sold listings, mercari, ebay, private deals that I am aware of and yeah, some are just speculation because card was never sold, ever.

Cool list Yugioh is always confusing for me, looking at the values though it seems some are hugely over inflated you have a few cards in the millions and several worth hundreds of thousands?

Indeed the Steel DM1 Black Luster Soldier is the Holy Grail of Yugioh, first trophy awarded, 1st place, 1 copy in the world. Its like 1996 MTG World Champion or Shichifukujin Dragon. The owner was offered 1kk usd years ago, declined it and asked 10kk usd, which is totally insane, only meaning card is not for sale. A friend of mine recently bought a DM2 Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon reaching over 250k usd (cos it was the replica version) and the non replica was for sale in Japan for 450k usd (never sold but its a reference). T3-01 Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was sold for 350k usd some years ago too. Yugioh is confusing indeed, so take the higher prices as a reference, and in some cases card was never sold, so it’s just a guess. As I said all deals are private and nothing is officially recorded, that’s what sucks about the hobby.

I used to love Yugioh myself and ended up keeping only a few cards. Never knew about these Trophy cards until I started seeing a few of them on ebay a while back. That being said, I’m wondering if you could update your list to detail what the price referentials are? I think it would be interesting for the community to keep track of the ones that haven’t popped up on sale and see if they do.

Hey great list! I recently started getting back into Yugioh and have been very interested in trophy cards for the TCG. I have looked at some lower end cards like Giant Hand, but have run into some trouble. How are you able to find the number of copies released for each trophy card. I am very interested in purchasing some trophy cards from the TCG (like Giant Hand, but i see no card count listed) but would like to know first how many copies were released. Any insight?

Yes I can do that!

I know for certain all the print run numbers I wrote are correct except the ones I stated otherwise, based on official Konami magazines, I have more pics of all these print run numbers but post was already long. Sadly with the TCG the only cards that have an official print run are the Match Winner Ultra Rare set and the SJC set, the others its just a guess, the YCSW Ultras maybe are around 12 to 20 copies each, but its unknown.

already updated it, keep in mind some cards may appear sold for less but Im stating the official copies price, not the spare copies, which may differ on the “replica” written on the lower left corner, or just cos they lack the official case, but card is identical.

Something doesn’t add up with them prices. Are those sold listings? Surely no one is paying those prices on cards that are not authenticated.

I will add that some of these cards I didn’t know existed.

I added the label next to the prices that sold, and those who did not. I would agree but saldy none of this market is graded or authenticated by any grading company, as I said that’s what I don’t like about the hobby. High end deals specially with old japanese trophies are managed by asian collectors that dont like to grade and keep all the deals private. It is what it is, you don’t have to believe me or the prices that I stated as sold, been in the ocg high end world for 11 years, and this is just a reference guide, I am not an official authority that records everything. Take this as what it is, just a guide.

And yes, they are paying more than 300k usd for a non graded/authenticated raw card. It is what it is. They know what they are buying, and prefer it that way.

Great post. Not a big Yu-Gi-Oh collector but years ago I picked up a few Tokyo Dome attendance and participant cards. Nice to know their print runs.

Nice list, thanks a lot for sharing! And I now also know I won’t have to even bother trying to get those 2015+ TCG Extra Secret Rare cards one day. A 2019 version is currently on eBay for 100k btw. It’s the only TCG rarity I’m missing in my Yu-Gi-Oh rarity collection right now (I’m also missing one Korean rarity; no OCG rarities; and some misprinted rarities). I just hope they one day create a TCG Extra Secret Rare that isn’t a Trophy tbh.

I knew some of those Yu-Gi-Oh trophy cards went for surprisingly high numbers, but didn’t knew this high.

And thanks a lot for all the pictures. The only one I’ve never seen before is that Novel Telephone card. Every other I knew about (although some of them only since three months ago when I was investigating all the existing rarities.)

Greetz,
Quuador

Thanks! Yes, imo Yugioh is underrated, I know it’s taken as a joke compared to MTG or Pokemon, but it has the most valuable trophy cards of any card game in existance. Glad you found it usefull, will consider making a new post with cool trophy pics in the future, and the magazines that show they print run numbers.

Ruining my 69 post count for this. But for an old list. I still refer to this regularly. You the man bro. Thank you!

6969 here we go!

Where does the intel on the offer for the BLS come from?

Very long ago, on one of the first yugioh high end pages, yugi1.com, they stated that the owner of this card got a 1 million usd offer, he turned it down and asked 10 million.

i don’t know all the prices / don’t know the majority of them, but for the cards where im aware of the prices, this is pretty accurate. Certain cards are slightly on the high side i feel, e.g. festa blue eyes, but not that far off

For example, if you don’t think that T3-01 Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is worth usd650k, try offering the owner usd220k (price of the recent psa 9 illustrator) and see his response. It will be “no”.

one of the key differences between yugioh and pokemon is, many of the rarest cards are one of a kind or two of a kind
