I rarely remember my dreams but I just had one last night where my sister found a bunch of pokemon cards I gave her ages ago (mint 1st edition jungle and some beautiful southern island cards) and despite their amazing condition, I immediately ran them under warm soapy water to clean them up. In the dream, I immediately realised what I was doing and tried to spread them out and let them dry, but then I woke up and realised it’s just a dream and was relieved that I didn’t run those cards under water. What.
I’ve come to realize I am a simple man. I do not have vague or metaphorical dreams. I’ve dreamt about pokemon cards before where I find vintage cards at a yard sale which definitely doesn’t leave much up to interpretation about my subconscious’ priorities.
I dreamt a very vivid dream where I found a pallet of base set booster boxes in a Toys R Us warehouse. A week later Evolutions was announced. Best news of my life at the time and I’ll never forget. The feeling I got upon pulling all those minty fresh base set reprints after dreaming about base set cards is one of the best feelings of true happiness I’ve ever had; Pure bliss.
As a child I had frequent dreams where I found stores selling booster packs for 99 cents each. As I grew older and was able to afford booster packs these dreams morphed into finding stores selling vintage boosters at MSRP. I still have such dreams at least once a month and always wake up very disappointed.
A long time ago a now deceased collector told me Japanese competitors would bring never before seen cards with the pocket monsters logo to Worlds. Back in the day I had so many dreams about rare cards we haven’t discovered.
