I tried to be a little objective, so I would say that true S tier belongs to very polished and refined experience that you will have playing a sequel or an awesome remake. Crystal is my favorite but unfortunately the terrible level curve is holding it back.
D tier is for what I consider unrefined, unnecessary or no more than a tech demo lol. I don’t own a switch but I watched many gameplays, and I really don’t like many of the new pokemon games.
It’s cool to see how you put yellow and let’s go pika/eevee so low, so different from my A tier lol. I see where you’re coming from, they are cashgrabs but they’re also the definitive Kanto experience (like FRLG, depending on your taste). Yellow also fixed a lot of bugs, updated ugly sprites and has lovely references to the anime.
Then Let’s go pika/eevee is the only modern 3d game that has a nice graphic and cartoonish style, and feels polished.
Here’s mine. Black/White is based on when I played it when it came out. I still hate the battle sprites, but I remember nothing of the game, it was so forgettable. Maybe I’ll give it another shot now that it’s like 10 years later.
Side note: Wish the spin off games were included (Mystery Dungeon pls). Would be cool to see how people rank them compared to the main series games.
It’s definitely not one of the major titles in the series, but I throughly enjoyed my time playing the game and the difficulty it has (compared to most of the other 3D games before it). It expanded on what SWSH wanted to do with the wild areas and did deliver a some-what open world experience people wanted. It’s a respectable game in my opinion. It’s release date was a pretty poor choice and should’ve been a November release, there’s a good chance the game would have been fleshed out some more and the extra time it would have bought could have helped SV to a degree.
It’s not a new thing for TPCi to have strict release dates and being quite unmoving on delaying games that definitely need more time in the oven since they have marketing campaigns ready to go. I do have a large chunk of critiques on PLA but I do think it’s a breath of fresh air and quite a welcome addition after SWSH and BDSP (and SM and XY).
It’s an empty unfinished game. All it has going for it is that it is different. No puzzles, no exploring, barely any battles, small dex, empty world, one village, no good characters, no real story, stagnant NPCs, no replayability, no battle frontier, no post game
