Pokemon in the New York Times Spelling Bee

I’m a big fan of puzzles & word games, so I play the NYT Spelling Bee every day. For those unaware, the player is given a grid of 7 letters in the shape of a honeycomb from which they form as many words as they can find. The only requirements are that the word be of length 4 or above, and the word contains the letter in the center of the grid. Each puzzle also contains at least one “pangram”–a word with all 7 grid letters in it.

As a fun side activity, I’ve been attempting to locate all the Pokemon names hidden within the daily grids, and so far I’ve found a surprising number! I’ll post a few below, and update the thread when I find more Pokemon

Cradily and Poliwhirl were even pangrams on their respective days!

I play those sometimes as well, though I did not know they had an online version, fun! Would be neat if Pokemon counted towards your score

Frankly I can’t stand playing the full Spelling Bee game, but I do enjoy the mental locomotion required in order to find a pangram. Even though there are sometimes multiple pangrams, trying to complete the full game (or get to the Expert/highest level) just devolves into a whirlpool of frustration for me. It probably didn’t help that I’d only play when I was radically bored at work
