Who’ll download it?

Will we see a slight mini “Pokémon Go” boom for the TCG?

I love mobile games, I don’t have a lot of time to sit down and play console/PC games anymore so I’ll definitely give it a try.

I’ve watched a few announcements and the trailer, but am I wrong in understanding this is a single player only game?

The fact that Ken Sugimori is such a driving force behind this games makes me give it a try for sure. Let’s hope for a lot of artwork like the one below. The sync pairs of trainers old and new with their most iconic pokémon is a brilliant idea; there’s something for everybody.

From what I looked at briefly this morning, it’s a story driven single play game (you control all three trainers yourself in battle) until you unlock multiplayer in which the other two trainers can be friends and you play together.

Apparently it takes a while of playing to get to the multiplayer, you can’t jump straight into it, so people don’t get stuck with others that don’t know wtf they’re doing.

This has been released. First impressions are pretty good! Theres a lot of new mechanics to get used to

IMO the battle system is a improvement to the 90s turn based system in the actual games. Perhaps the next gen should have an active battle system rather than turn based. Everything else in Masters is meh tbh. The story is just bland.

This. After trying it out, I agree with every bit of this.

Can someone please give a sparknotes what exactly you do in this game?
Lowkey don’t want to download it to kill my battery if it is just another batter sucking fiend like PoGo

You have to battle throughout the story 3v3 collecting badges and then battling in the Pokémon League. Pretty much every notable character you beat then joins your team.
You can choose what 3 characters you want in your team for each battle. Their Pokémon are usually unevolved, however you can evolve them by leveling them up to usually around 30 and then 45ish. Of course being a mobile game ingredients are needed to evolve Pokémon.
That is pretty much it. I’ve only played it a bit, currently have a feraligatr, servine (I can’t evolve yet because I don’t have materials and the shop is charging me 300,000 gems), and a houndoom.

You can scout characters too however that costs gems.

I’ve been playing a bit lately, used all my free gem things and feel like I got lucky pulling Phoebe/Dusclops and Brendan/Treecko so I’m using those two + the main story guy … no idea what a good team makeup is I’m just facerolling through atm. Game feels pretty grindy, I like the combat but there doesn’t seem to be much else besides that at the moment so it’s getting old pretty quick.

I’ve unlocked co-op but haven’t given it a go yet and my main three syncs are level 53 atm, not sure if i’ll keep playing as there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot to do and the story blocks you with difficulty resulting in the need to grind levels for days.
