I haven’t posted for quite some time, so here I am with, in my opinion, an interesting topic. Some sets feature a specific theme across some or all of the cards (examples below). If you have any to add, please feel free to do so! Even if it’s just a guess, I’d love to discuss this rather unusual topic with all of you.

I’m a sucker for backgrounds that reference a town or route from the games. Here’s one I recently discovered for Sootopolis City:
One that is very obvious but I don’t think gets enough credit is the Pokemon GO set. The set does an incredible job paying tribute to the lifespan of the game. Some references likely seem out of place to anyone that might not have followed all of Pokemon GOs journey. Here are a few of the examples I think get overlooked.
Over time Alolan Exeggutor became a bit of a meme within the game and communities. Starting with the release of Let’s GO, they would have outbreaks of Alolan Exeggutor typically aligning with the announcements for other games. These guys were everywhere and obnoxious, but it was often a fun surprise and change of pace for a little.
Within PoGo, only certain Pokemon can transform into Ditto. The 3 Pokemon that can be peelable Ditto cards are also Pokemon that can be Ditto in the game.
Everyone remembers the OG loading screen with Gyarados. But they also paid tribute to the 2nd and 3rd primary loading screens by used with Steelix and Tyranitar.
Connections like this apply to nearly every single card in the set either through the art, or the pokemon itself.
Thats great! I havent noticed. These sort of details are a reason for my love to hgss. It feels like sooo many cards of hgss feature in game locations
