Pokemon Sun&Moon Battle Tree/Battle Royal

Hopefully it’s ok I create new topic for this discussion, really felt the general thread would get too cluttered otherwise.
Share your thoughts and teams for these battle formats! It might even help out other players.

I’m using following team for both right now:

Mimikyu @ Scope Lens ( started with Spell Tag but imho Scope Lens helps out dealing massive damage )

-Slash
-Hone Claws
-Play Rough
-Shadow Claw

Metagross @ Leftovers

-Rock Slide
-Hammer Arm
-Meteor Mash
-Psychic

Salamence @ Dragonium Z

-Dragon Claw
-Crunch
-Flamethrower
-Earthquake

Holy cow that Mimikyu’s ability is amazing, almost always I have time to power up on turn 1 and then just beat the crap out of opponent. Currently trying to figure out another move to replace Slash, it has been useful only couple times regardless high crit ratio. Metagross/Salamence are outstanding duo as well, already reached first 20 win 1v1 streak in Battle Tree ( Red was last opponent ) and now I have enough BP for first Mega Stone.

I’ve had ok success in Battle Royal too, Master Rank beaten once but I don’t think I spend too much time there, without Protect etc. on each team member the battles tend to go as 1v3.

With your Metagross, it’s a physical attacker, so switch Psychic with Zen Headbutt.

I’d personally switch Hammer Arm to another fighting move, I use Brick Break for the added bonus of taking down a Reflect/Light Screen if activated.

Rock Slide is an ok choice but consider what you want it to achieve. Is it just the multiple targets?

@ozenigma

I prefer Psychic, gotta have at least one move with 100% accuracy and in some cases lowering opponent’s Special Defense helps a lot in long run.

You’re right about Brick Break, might have to teach it at some point, so far Hammer Arm has worked fine.

Rock Slide is mostly against flyers and flinching multiple targets in Battle Royal.

Gotta take my words back regarding Battle Royal, pretty fun once you understand the flow of each match. :stuck_out_tongue: After winning Master Rank ~30 times(?) Masked Royal finally appears again, funny enough I got only 1 kill in winning match but managed to keep whole team alive, in best case scenario Mimikyu has been untouched while taking out 5 opponents.

I’m personally waiting till Pokebank before I attempt Battle Tree… too lazy to breed without the Dittos I had from before. :relieved: Did you guys attempt the Battle Maison in Gen 6? I actually managed to get all the trophies over there; how does Battle Tree compare?

~700 BP in bank right now ( and I’ve spent some already on Mega Stones etc. ) after spending little more time in Royal rather than Tree, switching Mimikyu’s Hone Claws & Slash → Bulk Up & Leech Life was good decision, at least now it has some chances against physical attacks. Brick Break on Metagross works also like charm ( thumbs up @ozenigma ). Probably gonna build new team soon, Battle Royal has so much Water/Flying/Ice opponents Jolteon would certainly be good start.

Still trying to figure out good team that could do 200 1v1 win streak, seems like you have to anyways train them perfectly to have chances against best trainers.

Within last week I managed to beat all 50 Super Battle streaks, all there is left to do is conquer 100 & 200 win streaks to unlock remaining prices. Here are my current team members:

Tapu Koko @ Choice Scarf
252Speed/252SpeA/6Def

-Grass Knot
-Volt Switch
-Dazzling Gleam
-Thunderbolt

Salamence @ Salamencite
252Attack/252Speed/6SpeD

-Flamethrower
-Earthquake
-Return
-Dragon Claw

Metagross @ Assault Vest
252HP/252Attack/6SpeD

-Bullet Punch
-Zen Headbutt
-Brick Break
-Earthquake

Umbreon @ Leftovers
252HP/158Def/100SpeD

-Feint Attack
-Confuse Ray
-Toxic
-Moonlight

All 4 naturally for Doubles, Tapu Koko/Salamence/Metagross for Singles and just Tapu Koko/Salamence for Multi where I’m teaming up with Colress using Mega Metagross and Porygon Z. Doubles have been funniest so far since I can use Umbreon, exactly same nasty moveset I overused in Crystal’s Battle Tower etc. :stuck_out_tongue:

Battle tree does my head in. I get to like 30 battles and then screw up. I’ll post my team here later.

Same here. I think my highest record is like 42. I mainly stick to double battles. My go to team for doubles is:

Mega kangaskhan
-fake out
-dizzy punch
-crunch
-rock slide

Kartana (focus sash)
-leaf blade
-smart strike
-sacred sword
-psycho cut

Golisopod (assault vest)
-first impression
-liquidation
-sucker punch
-leech life

Wash rotom (sitrus berry)
-thunder
-hydro pump
-rain dance
-wil’o’wisp

Cleared Super Doubles a few days ago after lots of trial and error. Used these :3

Salamence @salamencite

  • Fire Blast
  • Dragon Dance
  • Return
  • Dragon Claw

Toxapex @black Sludge

  • Protect
  • Toxic
  • Scald
  • Recover

Aegislash @leftovers

  • King’s Shield
  • Shadow Sneak
  • Shadow Ball
  • Sacred Sword

Araquanid @waterium Z

  • Leech Life
  • Protet
  • Poison Jab
  • Liqidation

Mence is strong on it’s own. The occasional chance for DD saved me a quite a few times.
Toxapax is SO BULKY, it’s hilarious. Toxic stall all day
Aegislash is standard. Nice damage and helps with toxic stalling with King’s Shield
Hydro Vortex from Araquanid is a nuke. Not much survives the move if it’s neutral damage.

Yeess… first 100 win 1v1 streak done. Gotta say pretty tough place until you find a team that suits your playstyle. I actually got to 91 wins with Tapu Fini/Metagross/Mega Salamence but it didn’t feel too good so I changed to this:

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
252Attack/252Speed/6Def

-Return
-Fake Out
-Earthquake
-Sucker Punch

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
252Attack/252Speed/6SpeD

-Fire Punch
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
252HP/200Def/58SpeA

-Moonblast
-Scald
-Shadow Ball
-Calm Mind

Mega Khan on lead is pretty damn good dealing free damage with Fake Out ( unless I’m against faster opponent with same move ) and Dragonite is hard to stop after DD or two, Multiscale ability gives lots of toughness + Lum Berry is get outta jail free card for burns and stuff.

Tapu Fini is probably MVP of the team imo. , if AI has decided to afflict status condition on Fini you’ll get basically 2-3 free turns to set up Calm Mind during Misty Surge/Misty Terrain and then just destroy everything. Kinda funny even legendary pokemons fall in trap like that time after time.

It’s done, just completed 200 win streak in Super Singles. :sob: :tada:

Including all games I’ve played this must be one of the most frustrating features I can think of, AI is so damn brutal and it seems to have almost perfect counters match after match.

Did I already say how much I hate Double Team/Toxic Cresselia ( even though I have kinda cheesy strategy for it ), unnecessarily strong&fast Mega Lopunny, 3 in a row Sheer Cold OHKO by Lax Incense Walrein or a fucking SHELL SMASH KOMMO-O that shouldn’t even exist in game yet.

Hail, Mega Kangaskhan! Best handyman I’ve used in this place.
Hail, Tapu Fini! Finest guardian of Alola region.
Hail, Multiscale Dragonite! This could’ve not happened without your assistance.
