I’m looking forward to reading through this thread once you get more compiled! I have most of the modern etb booklets if needed, but the two others I have handy that may be harder to source are these:

Rules Version 2

EX Dragon Frontiers

Best of luck with the thread!

It’s my time to shine! With one of the few random items I still have from my childhood: this Japanese Neo Genesis rulebook (it’s missing the front page, so I took a picture of the back cover).

I don’t see it on the list, but I also had this Latios/Latias EX Trainer Kit rulebook, if that’s of interest:

Maybe it is @lyleberr’s fate to open up all his sealed products to dig out these rulebooks. Some higher power must have guided him towards deck collecting for this very moment.

Not opening for the foreseeable future, but i do have quite a few loose rulebooks around from unsealed decks. I’ll take a look eventually if I happen across any of them when reorganizing or selling.

Thanks @citriina and @bbobrob !

  • EX Dragon Frontiers
  • Japanese section
    • Gold, Silver, to a New World…

Love love love this thread.

“Rules Version 2” is from Jungle :grinning:

Also, I shared these on Discord earlier, but I should just repost them here as well: the credits pages of the first five Japanese rulebooks.

Japanese version 1 Rulebook (Japanese Base Set, October 1996):

Japanese version 2 Rulebook (Pokémon Jungle or Mystery of the Fossils, early 1997):

Japanese version 3 Rulebook (Rocket Gang, November 1997):

Japanese version 4 Rulebook (Brock & Misty decks, April 1998):

Japanese Neo version 1 Rulebook (Neo 1, February 2000):

I have more Japanese rulebooks, but from VS forward they stopped including these credits pages.

English EX Ruby & Sapphire Rulebook:

Note that the English rulebooks as far back as Base Set list the trio of Ishihara, Ooyama, and Akabane as directors and game designers, while the earliest Japanese rule books do not. This apparent discrepancy exists because Japan was already in their Gym era by the time the game came out in English, meaning, by the time the first English rules were printed, Akabane and Ooyama already held those positions.
