With there being over 10,000 unique English Pokemon cards, you would think that every Pokemon has been printed at least once, but you’d be wrong.
Mega Abomasnow has never been printed on a card, and likely never will, because SWSH has abandoned mega evolution. In fact, just regular Abomasnow has never even gotten a holo card, despite existing since generation 4 - for over 14 years!
Above is every unique English art Abomasnow. The “holy grail” of an Abomasnow collector would probably be the countdown calendar reprint with the snowflake stamp. Kind of wild, considering that Abomasnow was actually quite strong/popular in the VGC for it’s ability to set up hail in gen 4/5. It’s no Dunsparce.
Do you guys know of any other Pokemon that have never had a card printed like Mega Abomasnow? Or Pokemon that have been neglected by the TCG in general? Or if you know of any secret hidden Abomasnows in other cards, let me know!
indeed, especially since mega banette and pinsir have awesome designs IMO. Honestly now that I think about it how did heracross get one but not pinsir? Hmmm
Yeah, it was a shame that Mega Pinsir, Mega Abomasnow, Mega Banette, Mega Medicham, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Sableye never got a card during the XY era. Instead, we got 2 (technically 3) Mega Gardevoir, 3 Mega Blastoise, 3 Mega Venusaur, 2 Mega Charizard X and 2 Mega Charizard Y. Even if you leave the Charizards and take away the duplicates of the others, then there would’ve been enough space to have 6 cards for the megas that were never printed. But 2016 was the 20th anniversary, so the printers said KANTOOOOO
Poor Kadabra hasn’t seen a print since Skyridge! I know a lot of people know about this, but I bet there’s a greater chance we see a Mega Abomasnow before we do another Kadabra (aka never).
You wanna talk sadness? Pretty sure dodrio has never gotten a single holo card ever. I looked it up awhile ago and best i could find is reverse holo rare
Pretty crazy. Didn’t even know there was a mega abomasnow until now. Some Pokémon end up getting truly shafted in the card game. Kinda like mantykes one card ever.
Hm, never thought that there would be some Pokémon that never got their own cards! I’ll be interested to see if any Gigantimx Pokémon do not receive their own Vmax card by the time the next generation of cards comes out and Pokémon forgets dynamaxing. (I did not play SwSh so feel free to correct me on the vernacular).
I hope they finish up the Megas. Some genders of mons or variants haven’t been made into cards yet either such as male combee and winter deerling and sawsbuck
Even sadder that this is a double whammy. No Kadabra due to legal whatever, but Abra took the other end of that sword… Only 1 card since skyridge, a 13 year and counting drought now.
Someone made a thread with the pokemon who had taken the longest to get a new card featured with them, iirc it was @pichufan. Conclusion was that abra and kadabra were the longest (obviously), but that baby pokemon were also pretty much not featured anymore. This thread did not take region specific or mega evolution or any other alternate forms, but it is a fun read anyways.
@thymeee yep, that was this thread: The first 251 Pokémon ordered by last Japanese TCG release. Some of the baby Pokémon haven’t had their own dedicated cards printed in over 10 years: this is probably why we’ve also only had one English card printed for both Mantyke and Bonsly, babies just don’t work well in the current TCG.
