I was wondering if those of you who have opened these before or received them when they were distributed can answer some questions.
What is the odds on getting Espeon/Umbreon Gold Star?
What is the odds on getting holos?
Are these packs easily searched?
I have an opportunity to buy a good amount of these, and normally I don’t buy loose packs but I know these were never released in a box form. I never opened any of these either, if I’m not mistaken there’s 3 cards/pack?
My plan is just to resale them on my site, that’s why I’m asking about search ability, I want my customers to have a chance at the holos/gold stars.
-Speculated pull ratio of a Gold Star are 1:20. This is EITHER/OR odds, so the odds of a SPECIFIC Gold Star are 1:40.
-If I recall correctly, the holos were released as separate promos not available directly through the packs.
-Gold Star cards in this set are NOT holographic, meaning the packs are in no way weighable to determine the better cards. This is part of what keeps POP5 pack prices high.

Thanks, I wasn’t aware holos were distributed separately so that’s good to know. Do you think selling these at $25/pack is fair/low/high? I was considering that initially but might try $30 if I pursue this purchase.
I was under the impression that it was 1:40 for EITHER gold star, not 1:40 for a specific one. @hisoka107 can you confirm what you saw from your openings?
I have opened 15 or 20 or so and have been skunked bad with them. They are like damn scratch offs. I have one sitting sealed in my collection that probably has a gold star…
I’ve only opened up about 10 packs but after that I realised that you might as well buy the cards outright, I only paid like £10 a pack which was cheap too but if I opened up packs at that cost and hit the 1:40 ratio I would still be over the price of either of the raw cards I’m pretty sure. The main problem with these packs is you either get a star or 2 worthless cards.
In my experience its’ better to buy the cards. I would buy in lots of 50 or 100+.
I found that i would usually pull my first gold star after opening 50+ packs with 2-3
being between pack 50-90. I believe i opened 100 packs 3-4 times. I either got 2 or 3
each time. Never got 4 while opening.
There are 3-5 people out there with 1000+ pop 5 packs. I know ludkins found one of them.
I’m not sure if someone found the person i knew. Cardhouse eu sold out of his 1000 long ago.
