Post Some of your Fake but Cool Cards!

Hey guys so I recently found the HOLY GRAIL OF ALL POKEMON CARDS!!!
I bought it just for the sheer amazement of a FULL HOLO MAGIKARP!

I was hoping everybody could share their fake vending sticker cards or any kind of fake card that you find amusing and just for fun! I have seen quite a few of these allover fake holo cards for sale recently and think they are pretty cool actually! I am curious to see if any of you guys have any of these fake but kinda cool cards and if so please post em up! :stuck_out_tongue:

I only have three fake Pikachu cards, but here they are:

This first one is actually one of the most convincing fakes I’ve seen, except for the fact that it’s a 1st edition (Thin print) Base set card that isn’t Shadowless… :unamused: And no, it isn’t a misprint. The light trick also reveals it’s a fake.

This one has a holo pattern similar to the cards from the Plasma Freeze set, and a vertical cut-line.

And where to even begin with this one… It’s about a cm smaller than a regular card, the colors are too dark (especially the blue in the picture), and the text isn’t even the same as the legit Spanish Boundaries Crossed Pikachu:

Those are the only ones I got so far. Oh, and I have an English Gligar which looks similarly small and bad as the Spanish Pikachu above.

There is actually a fake I want, which is the Base Set holo sticker. Unfortunately it is almost never for sale, and if it is they are asking 200 USD…

Btw, @justinator also has some interesting Pikachu fakes on his website: www.pikachucards.com/m/collection/contains.php?type=fake#0

I had a really good fake, it was a 1st edition wattortle. It looked extremely well done. Edges were perfect, the back was almost the right shades of color, the front was well done too. The 1st edition stamp was even on point. Unfortunately it got ripped by my cousin who claimed it was an abomination!

Edit: WATTORTLE

@quuador Good eye on those I don’t think I would have caught some of the errors on them. Awesome pikachu cards anyway and the holo pattern on the 2nd one is actually pretty cool even though its a fake. Thats pretty funny about the spanish one being totally different text and the size difference like what were they thinking lol!

I’ve got a few cool fakes, Charizaro is my favourite, has a really nice holo effect

Charizaro! Pichu looks like a Mr. Mime in a pichu suit lol. those are definitely awesome cards

This is my only fake card, although some people believe it’s part of a Base Set test print.

it evolves from a golden wall! lol would be funny if it said that but it looks like it has a really cool holo pattern

Charizaro is a pretty cool Pokemon, but I’m just glad to finally find a 2nd edition hybrid Rocket/Neo Genesis Pichu to complete my collection of all Pokemon that evolve from Magnemite.

I’ve had this card for a long time, I got it from a friend whose dad often went to China for business trip and he always bought some fake Pokemon cards from there. This is just too funny, it’s reverse printed  The colors are really funky as well

@Kazuya212 This thread is from 7 years ago (and your post at Venusaur Card:Unknown Base Set?Promo?Custom?FAKE?! - #5 by Kazuya212 from even 8 years ago… ) It’s ok if you collect vintage fake cards and want to buy them when someone posts them, but maybe it’s better to try and PM the person instead of bumping an ancient thread. Most of these members are possibly not even active anymore.

Which is sad because we now know that @rainking had a charizard disco testprint.

Since the damage is done, I’ll leave this poll here, and my own answer under spoiler:

Is collecting fakes for pussies?
  • Yes
  • No

0 voters

Summary

Yes.

I’d like to revive and enlarge the topic and talk about it, cause there are different types of fake and different motivation for buying them.

Personally, it’s most a matter of economical advantage and availability of the product.
Also, it gets you the ethical dilemma. Is it right to buy them? Is it right to sell them?

I have to make some examples:

Pikachu Trophy? SSB Trophy? the Illustrator?

Will I ever be able to afford them? No.
I want them in my collection? Yes.
It’s “gotta catch 'em all!” baby, why shouldn’t I want them.
Are these fakes good ones? No. They are a fist in the eye. But a good eye can be punched even from better proxies, so what’s the point of getting a 50$ fake instead of a 3$ fake that’s not even made out from cardbord, it’s just plastic?
As a binder collector, looking at the empty slots in my collection makes empty myself.
I just can’t stand the fact I can’t have something like a piece of cardboard.
When I was a kid my family wasn’t a rich one, so getting pokemon cards was a moment of joy, and the fact that I couldn’t just catch them all made me sad.
Growing up and getting my own job gave me back courage and a new strenght for collecting, but I’ve come to a wall I can’t climb. To me it’s ok to buy a fake in this case so that I can have a palliative, until it stays in my collection and never gets out of it.
It’s like cheating in your save file a celebi, after completing RSE and FRLG multiple times to fill the pokedex. Damn, after clearing emerald regional dex 3 times to get the johto starters you can’t keep me away from filling it whole.

Jumbo not-jumbo.

As above but maybe worse?
Jumbo cards can’t fit in a binder. The originals sure are affordable, but what’s the point of buying them as a binder collector, if I can’t fit them into my binder?
So this guy made some good quality proxies in the standard size of regular cards so that I can enjoy these artworks alongside my other cards.
Also, this guy is from Italy too, so I’m more than glad to spam him here so he can get noticed (hopefully).
I absolutely want those fake phone cards from seven years ago if it matters

Unique fakes.

Haven’t you ever desired to own mewthree? Venustoise? Or the ghost from lavender town?
That guy from above has made even those cards available, in an art style that reminds of Sugimori-sensei (all heil to Sugimori-sensei!).
What I’m trying to say here is that fake cards can make possible something that to nowadays is not, and probably never will otherwise. And I think it’s beautiful.

Just cool stuff.

Someone (me) can argue that some cards are just cool. I like these cards that tries to replicate the ancient mew style, with the unown fonts instead of runic, and some nice holo (not everyone, ok, some just scream “faaaaake” from the distance and it’s not objectively good to see but still) I’m trying to get all the legendaries from gen1 to gen4 in this style.

Now that I’ve made this post I can never again be a trve collector.
Cause trve collectors don’t buy fakes.

Sourced from the internet, I do not own this card.

I think I could get onboard the miniature versions of big cards. I loathe big cards.

From an eBay collection I bought years ago:

I was trying to take a better photo for about a minute until I realized that text was that blurry.

And from Mercari (posted in a different thread already):
