I have an interesting card that I dug up while re-organizing my collection. It’s an uncommon dodrio 33/101 from hidden legends, and I believe it is a misprint/error card but could use some E4 member input.
The holo only appears on about 15% of the card (see pics). The holo pattern appears for 2 ‘rows’ of the pattern, then fades to nothing. The first row of the holo pattern symbols are much stronger than the second. No other part of the art has the holo pattern. The holo pattern fades away in a very short gradient.
I think this is a misprint/error - what do you guys think? Can provide more pics on request.
Looks like a holo sheet misprint/misalignment to me. I’ve owned quite a few reverse holos from HL and they all had the full energy symbol holo throughout the art’s background.
Interesting. I wonder if this is a global thing…thank you for the examples, btw. I’m still convinced that this is some kind of holo error - on some of the examples you provided the holo symbols are all over the artwork, but are still faded - I’ve never seen a purposeful half/quarter-holo card like this before.
Only one of the cards that I provided had holo across the whole card. The others are what is typical for the card (i.e., very restricted holo space).
Take a look at the Mareep from EX Team Rocket Returns. Same kind of thing where the holo pattern is only on a portion of the card art. I think it’s an (odd) artistic choice.
