I’ve seen it for sale a few times for £1000, I’ve even seen a PSA 10 for nearly 7k on eBay italy! I know only 100 were ever made, and I know one of those has definitely been damaged, but I’m just seeing what people’s opinions are of the potential current/future value of a card that albeit it extremely rare, can’t be played at official tournaments?
As for any rare cards, it is however much someone is willing to pay for it.
It’s a Pokémon card based on a Japanese rap group.
It’s realistic value and desirability is tied to people who actually know who Suzukisan is.
The only thing it has going for it is a pretty rough drawing of Imakuni? which doesn’t give it a lot of potential in my eyes.
There are far more limited cards with much higher desirability.
I can appreciate the good points you are making. How about the fact that it is a 20th anniversary release? Surely that will increase desirability, as there will be collectors wishing to obtain all 20th anniversary cards? So in your opinion what kind of future value will it be limited to?
Again, people aren’t likely to buy it because it’s a 20th Anniversary print - because there is nothing physically on the card that eludes to it being part of the 20th Anniversary.
It’s a tough question to ask what value it will have in the future, it’s exceptionally niche in the Western World.
There are pros and cons of this card:
Pros:
-Limited to 200
-Homage to the old pokemon merchandise Let’s Trade Please (CD), using the same art
-Some people would like it because it’s part of the 20th anniversary celebration
Cons:
-No one outside of Japan would know about them, with very minor exceptions
-The artwork tailors to a specific segment of the market, most people won’t like it
-No 20th anniversary stamp
-It’s a lottery card, not a trophy card, making this an optional grab for trophy collectors
-Not playable
IMO I think the majority of this card’s value is backed by it’s limited quantities, and a small bit because it has some historical significance to it. If this card is produced at a higher quantity, it would literally become pennies on the dollar, and I don’t think much people would be interested in it.I also don’t think the 20th anniversary would really affect it’s value, because it’s not marked anywhere on the card and as a 20th anniversary fan (really like how it was celebrated), even I am pretty adamant about the card.
I think it’s one of those cards where the card would be expensive, but extremely slow to sell.
I’m pretty sure I saw @kkthxbai discuss that one of these cards was not limited to 100 copies and potentially has 200+.
Can’t remember if it was this card though.
Thanks Ryan @oz.enigma for the tag.
Yeah, it’s a tricky one.
Actually 100 people won tickets randomly to attend this event in Japan.
Each winner, was able to bring one extra person with them. Whom was eligible for the 2 x promo cards also.
I.e 100 x 2 of each of the two promo cards given.
There may of been more printed for staff working at the event also, but I can’t confirm that. But I can confirm 400 promos total given to winners on that day.
200 of the one you mentioned above, and 200 of the mega sachiko xy-p.
These have been around a while, they are not so popular due to the artworks…
Quite hard to spot through Japan though, I think they usually sell between 45,000-85,000 yen raw each depending on their condition. Price may of gone up recently, but that is the raw range it sells at.
Thanks for all your replies. The main thing I was worried about if I didn’t overspend, and buy the sounds of it I got a pretty decent by. For me personally it is a must, as although it isn’t stamped with the 20th anniversary symbol, it is still a 20th anniversary promo, as it was released as part of the celebration, so it will complete the full set of 20th anniversary promos that I have.

The one with imakuni is better imo. The art is actually from the 90s, the front card design looks like a vintage card. In fact when I first saw the card I was like, “what is this old card, I’ve never seen it before”.
