Price Check - Base Set Blister Box printed 7/99, Shadowless?

Hi all,

I haven’t seen comparables on a box like this one on ebay. Looking at listings, I can see 1999 base blister packs selling $800 and up, with Shadowless packs going for more. I am the original owner of the box and purchased it in 1999 I believe from Toys R’ Us. Stashed it away, forgot about it, and just unearthed it from my parent’s house.

Questions:

  1. Is there a way to tell if these blister packs contain Shadowless cards based on print date of 7/99 or anything else? I’ve googled around, youtubed, and haven’t found anything conclusive.
  2. Is there a price premium value-wise because this box is sealed like so and thus 100% guaranteed to be untampered with?
  3. If I decide to sell, what tips do you have to maximize price and minimize getting scammed? I’ve looked at eBay, as well as consigning through Heritage or PWCC.
  4. I have a fair amount of unlimited and 1st edition fossil cards; most probably PSA 6-8 looking at them. In your experience, is there a cut off in terms of what is worth sending to PSA vs just selling ungraded? I’ll prob grade all of the Charizards, along with starter lines and Pikachu if they have have a good chance of PSA 8 or above.

I really don’t want to let my stuff go, but I am entering a new chapter of my life and may need to sell off some items to fund a business venture.

Thank you in advance!

@pokebricks, you’re gonna have to crack the box if you wanna know if they’re shadowless or not

Crack open the box and breathe in the aroma of the 90’s

Couldn’t be shadowless if legit from wotc

:sob: Crushin’ his hopes in one sentence dang

The 7/99 would indicate is has shadowless pack art but it is very unlikely to contain shadowless cards.

Shadowless art I opened one of those before. Short crimp though.
