This is my first post ever. Any thoughts? Also what does a Char PSA 10 topsun blue back go for? This set seems to be extremely rare on eBay …
There’s almost 500 listings on eBay so take the time to figure it out.
Here’s a link:
www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=topsun+blue+backs&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_odkw=topsun+blue+backs&_osacat=0
Thanks for that. Indeed there are 500 listings, and all are piecemeal stuff. Hence asking this forum of experts whether anyone has experience with buying/selling a whole blue back set (minus the prism cards) … there are no listings for that, and I have not seen one ever.
Your answer/guidance is the same as saying I should go research 102 base set cards individually to determine the price of a complete set. First, that will provide a way inflated estimate. Second, that defeats the purpose of being on this forum with hardened collectors with tons of experience and wisdom who may have seen or actually purchased a whole set.
One way of estimating is looking at complete green back sets (they do exist!), and perhaps apply a premium factor for rarity of blue backs relative to green backs (about 5-6:1), and those run around $500-$600 ungraded. OK sure. But does anyone have any actual experience?
Cheers,
I put together a couple sets about 20 years ago and have several Charizards. No up to date prices so would have to check eBay. Maybe cullers here has an idea? Maybe ebirdman on eBay?
Sold listing from @garyis2000, search shows www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-card-Topsun-150-150-Set-Blue-Back-Nearly-Complete-Charizard-Very-Rare-/264088738192?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true from last December. We’re getting closer!
id be interested in knowing about the bluebacks as well (just the charizard though). I don’t think my numberless would grade well because the color is faded compared to the normal blueback
Thank you! This is beginning to give me a better idea. I think millmarket.arigato priced it incorrectly … these are much rarer than the green backs. I should have bought that set:)
They are indeed scarce. $550 to $650 buy-it-now for the NM or NM-Mint set sounds about right, with Charizard taking a majority of the set value. If you can find one for less than $500 it won’t last long, of course with Charizard’s condition being a factor. I sold a PSA 10 blue back copy in December for $1900, and another sold in November for $1800. I also sold a couple sets easily for $400 a couple years back.
I hope that helps. Also, welcome to the forum
Where are they selling (the psa 10s). Is this on ebay or something else? I didn’t realize a 10 of this card was clearing a grand!
I own a PSA 10 of the blue back (not prism holo). I had an offer for $2500 from a buyer in Dubai last year … decided to hold on to it. Looks like there are 14 such cards now. When I got it graded, there were 6 … still about 5-6 times rarer than the green back today in the gem mint category. MasterJumpMaster was selling a blue back gem mint trio (Char/Blas/Venu) and the listing for $25,000 on eBay recently went “out of stock”.
From PSA’s APR page, the last…
-
PSA 10 green back sold for $355.
-
PSA 9 blue back sold for $1,250 (No PSA 10 sale history available).
-
PSA 10 blue back with no number sold for $1,150.
I’ve got a PSA 8 or 9 blue back with PSA at the moment, so this increase in value is rather nice!
The PSA no number that cleared for $1150 is actually a PSA 9, not 10 … I don’t think one exists yet in that quality
@chrisbalestra those were on ebay
