Didn’t see any recent sales on eBay but did see daveandadams have a box for like 88k or best offer. Any thoughts on what this would sell for?
70k
Most recent purchase to my knowledge was for $78k USD. Personally believe that’s a steal for what it will be in 5 more years.
5 more years? BuT wHaT aBoUt ThE eCoNoMy
The one currently on ebay at 99k was the same one which sat at 65k or best offer before the seller changed his price. Granted it is a little beat up.
Smpratte bought his for 68k + fees, a week after one sold for 45k + fees? (Correct me if im wrong).
I know of Australian who bought one for under 50k aud in 2018.
I imagine a very nice one that isnt bashed is worth $65k-75k, and a more worn one worth 45k-55k.
I thought I posted here? Where’d it go?
Thank you all for the replies, do you think the condition plays a big part in the price? I’m not talking about smashed in box vs a mint box but something that is mint compared to something with a couple dinged corners. Are we talking 10k difference?
There aren’t many buyers out there on a product like this at full retail price at any given time to begin with.
Some of those buyers will care, some won’t. If you at one time have one potential buyer of a mint box but they aren’t interested at all in a dinged box, then yes, at auction a box could theoretically get $10k less for slight condition issues. Perhaps though a buyer will be ready that day at the same price who won’t care. It’s impossible to tell.
There could honestly be a $10k difference between two identical mint boxes on two different days. Same goes for all super high end fairly illiquid stuff. People get too hung up thinking everything has one single price, when in our hobby aside from new product at MSRP on store shelves, nothing has one single price.
About 15 years ago I got a sealed 1st Jungle box that was totally covered in rubber bands. I mean, you could not detect that there was any sign of the box underneath besides the shape. That wasn’t all. The guys kids used it as a play “ball”. It was VERY well loved. I actually kept that on a shelf for a couple years as a conversation piece.
Well, one day my boredom got the best of me and I took the rubber bands off and opened the box. How were the contents? Let’s just say the Children’s Hospital of Orange had a great time with them.
The moral? Sometimes the contents reflect the surface.
