PSA 8 graded cards with creases

I have received two PSA graded cards this week that both received 8s and both had creases that were only visible on the backside. I admit it’s hard to see without looking at certain angles and most people would not see it but this is totally unacceptable. Is this happening to anybody else? They were shadowless holos. Magneton and Chansey. Both PSA 8, both creased. This isn’t the first time this has happened to me and I am starting to lose faith in PSA. What a shame.

Incoming magneton photos…its more “subtle” but dang. That Chansey is horrid.

That Chansey is indeed terrible and not worthy of a 8. I’d take it up with PSA, they’ll refund you for their error.

This hurt my soul, they really need to do some quality assurance or something, they have a streak of bad errors lately.

I posted the magneton photos on the same link. The seller refunded me after seeing the photos. It’s just disappointing that this is becoming a frequent thing.

For future reference: Buy the card, not the grade. The seller had no obligation to refund you, and you may get burned by this in the future. In general, though, if the card is really as bad as in this case, you can still get the card regraded and get refunded the difference in value from PSA.

Oh wow, I’m guessing the grader didn’t notice the creases and didn’t take them into consideration or it was damaged post-grading.

Yeah I understand you are supposed to buy the card and not the grade. 90% of the time I buy raw, but I never expected to encounter this. PSA should have never let this slip by. My solution is that I am not going to buy any more graded cards period because he had decent photos and there was no way to see the crease. Maybe he had no obligation to refund me but any decent person would. The card is damaged, not NM-MT

Shouldn’t the cards go through 2 or 3 graders before they agree on a grade?

Ouch!! Definitely not 8 worthy! I had a 1st edition Poliwrath with a crease across one corner. I am surprised that a grader would miss these, obviously there has to be a certain allowance for human error but this seems like fairly obvious damage to me.

That’s brutal. I was expecting very minor and hard to see creasing but whoever graded these needs a good pair of eyeglasses.

Something is definitely up with PSA lately. Did they just hire a bunch of rookies to satisfy demand and didn’t train them properly? It’s really becoming quite silly. It’s getting to a point where shady flippers will start cracking anything in hopes to get a lucky grade on a damaged card.

While we are talking about it here is another one from a personal sub that PSA let slip by. I only submitted the card because it was from my personal collection as a kid. I knew it had a binder ring bend but the grade wasn’t important. A little shocked when it came back gem 10.

I’ve heard that a lot, but its pretty obvious that doesn’t happen all of the time, there’s no way multiple competent graders can miss damage like this, especially since this is getting more and more common
