First, let me start this thread by saying that I’ve spent a lot of time looking at my cards lately and this could simply be a case of paranoia!
So here’s the deal. I have a 1st edition base set Blastoise which I bought early last year, and for some reason I’m now questioning the authenticity of it/the case it’s in.
My issue is that the frosting around the card “holder” parts of the case are of a much finer grain than a lot of my other lighthouse slabs. I will attach pictures to illustrate my point. Out of about 50 lighthouse slabs that I have I can only find 3 others with a similar grain pattern (much lower value cards). It also appears to have a couple of scratch-type marks in the centre at the bottom on the grain. It’s probably worth pointing out that all the cards with the finer grain have cert numbers 28****** - or thereabouts.
If you’ve read my ramblings - I thank you. Am I paranoid about the cases - are there variations even within a “lighthouse” slab? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
