I just stumbled upon this article on Facebook; thought it was pretty cool to see PSA and eBay partnering-up on Autograph Review. Also sounds like it’ll be an excellent source of income for PSA!
Yay more work for psa to delay them more
Thanks for sharing that Nick!
I have used the quick opinion in the past, and had varying results when submitting the actual item. But it serves its purpose for those interested.
Will people really pay $10 to hear back in 24 to 48 hours whether a signature is “likely genuine” or “likely not genuine” (or unable to render an opinion in which case you’d be refunded) from an expert who is simply using the same photos they can see themselves? Note that the quickopinion comes with no guarantee and no refund (not even for the $10) in the event that you buy it and then PSA deems in not authentic.
They deem their quickopinions to be for the purchaser only, non transferable and you are not supposed to disclose the opinion given to third parties. I wonder how many people will start using a quick opinion on their own items to advertise signatures as legit? Way quicker and cheaper than submitting for an actual certification I would have to assume.
I’m not trying to sound as negative as I am likely coming across, but I am genuinely curious of these things. I am certainly critical of the whole autograph thing to begin with as I just don’t really understand the allure all too well myself. Interesting thing nonetheless for those out there who chase autos I guess. The timing does seem to be a bit questionable but at least they’ve extended out their estimated turnaround times to be a bit more realistic for the current conditions.
