Wondering what the E4 community thinks about the above… the notorious ‘Black Triangle’ PSA packs. Future, value, demand, etc…
I have a few in 10’s and 9’s, and I have read about the consensus of views around PSA pack grading and some opposing views of pack grading. Being an error I suppose (and populations back me on this) that they will be scarce in terms of quantity, hearing the stories that the print was only for a few hours before the mistake was realised. At current there is each artwork in the mid 30’s in PSA 10’s and also 9’s.
Any thoughts are welcomed for open discussion!
NB: Below picture is not mine, just for illustrative purposes
They’re a must have if you’re a sealed pack collector. It’s a niche item, but I think it will hold its value. I also hate pack grading, but it is what it is and it earns a huge premium. Good for people that like to overpay for damaged packs.
I don’t know about much growth potential. They already go for a lot of money, it’s not something I would personally invest in.
One concern I have is I feel these could possibly be counterfeit and PSA seems to have a hard time spotting an obvious fake stamp on a card, they’d probably not waste too much time looking at a black triangle stamp.
I personally wouldnt send int psa yet…hopefully they make the slabs for pokemon packs…because the current ones look crap! They arent designed for pokemon packs…and i think it could maybe damage the pack…also if you send in…they fold top and bottom…then years down the line they actually grade pokemon packs with decent slabs for them…crack the cases and youll have a potentially poorer pack to re grade.
I opened a few psa 10 1st edition base set packs and the cards were all fine… Actually came back all 10s from psa. It does look ugly but the cards aren’t damaged at all it seems.
I’d grade them. I am holding onto mine and just wanted to verify the contents. I know a psa 9 pack was resealed but I’d rather buy a psa 10 black triangle pack than a lose one on ebay!
Not related but I figured I’d mention it: the “printed for three hours” comment was a completely arbitrary and false comment made by Unlisted leaf and spread after his hype video. There is (currently) no quantifiable evidence to pin down any particular time frame of printing.
Although they are indeed rather scarce its best to stick to facts when it’s possible
You’re right. If I was rich and heavily invested into Pokemon, I’d probably pay him a couple grand for 2 minutes youtube time to hype certain niche product I want to move. lol
I don’t like him by the way. He’s just the pewdiepie of pokemon, and I can’t deny it.
Hah, he could or his friends could make a fortune off his videos if they prepared…like the Battle festa cards. Buy up when they were 20-30 quid and sell for over 100 each haha! (i do not condone insider tradin and manipulation by the way)
If Id know id have bought a handful of the festa…sold then invested in old japanese/wotc stuffs with the profits aha!
