New to the forum here. Didn’t realise that people weighed booster packs. I have been sitting on a 1st Edition Booster Pack, which has been graded by PSA. I was wondering if anyone happened to know the weight of the booster pack casings? I was thinking that I could perhaps make a determination as to whether the pack inside it was Heavy or Light, through Weight of Case + Pack, minus weight of case = heavy or light? Or am I just going mad?
That’s good to know - thank you Charetard (great name btw). I guess I need to determine whether it’s worth bustin’ it open to find out or keep it a mystery.
Thank you haha, and my personal opinion, once again my personal opinion on this matter is to keep the thing sealed because the odds are heavily against you in terms of financial gain if that is what you’re after.
If you just want to open it for fun, I can’t take that away from you but I still personally wouldn’t.
And if you want to just crack it from the holder to weigh it, I still think I wouldn’t do that, because if you weigh it light, you probably just diminished not only the value of it to the market, but also the value of it to yourself which hurts more in my opinion.
I would keep it sealed and enjoy it in the PSA holder
Plus, if it’s an old encapsulation, there’s much more certainty that it wasn’t resealed!
Yea - I asked a similar question and got similar response months back as I have 3 base set psa booster slabs I graded myself years ago and never weighed. Torn between cracking and figuring out which/if any are heavy. But then it would take FORRR EVVV ERR (insert Sandlot) to get back.
Thanks both for your kind input. The grading cert number is around the 4 million mark. That’s another worry of mine too! I’ve bought this pack already graded, how do I know that the contents haven’t been tampered with? Or even the case itself! These are the first world problems I have to deal with each day
If the seller you bought the pack off of didn´t specify it´s unweighed/heavy it is 99.99% light and therefore not worth cracking out. (at least not for seeking financial gain)
PSA is there to verify that the thing they grade was not tampered with. Even though there are instances where they failed to detect a fake/reseal, it is highly unlikely. I have already said that in another thread just a few minutes ago, every buyer of a high value item has to do their due dilligence when it comes to buying. You need to learn what packs/graded packs have to look like, what fakes there are and what to look out for. I´d start by watching some of the big youtubers that deal with this kind of stuff or you can ask a member here that is willing to help
