Wanted to hear your thoughts on what you believe scuffs/scratches take off of the selling cost of rare cards? I have three cards that have a few case damages such as a scratch, small crack & a small chip.
If the scratches are on the front that distracts from the card then it can be an issue. On the border and holo/picture is a negative to me. The back and is fine although I wouldn’t like a crack too big, on the corner is fine.
Buyers aren’t just paying for the graded card itself so the case is an important aspect.
Theres been a psa 10 1st edition light dragonite with a big crack over the psa label, and it has been on ebay for over a year. Personally i wouldn’t want a card with a cracked case in my collection
I’ve looked into it briefly. Back to the light dragonite i spoke about in my previous comment. I thought maybe i could buy it and recase it myself. I think PSA’s rules are if the scratch doesnt affect the card at all then they just recase it. If there is a crack or so that has the card exposed in any way I think they have to regrade it to make sure there isnt any damage to it
Thats what I remember from what I gathered a couple months ago
I need to try the scratch remover stuff. I have a scratch on my 1st ed base charizard case, but I find the more valuable the card, the less the case matters because people want the card over the case and can always have the card recased if not cracked open.
Does the PlastX actually work on light scratches? I keep reading about this PlastX on forums plus I just bought a PSA 10 card with really annoying scratches on the front (really noticeable in the light).
I use the Meguiar’s PlastX plastic cleaner, which removes light surface scratches and makes my PSA cases shine good as new! I picked up a bottle from Walmart last year for around $6.
