Submission center in Nova Scotia now available for Canadians who prefer not to handle customs passage on their own.
Seems pretty pricey compared to the $15 direct option plus you’ll have to pay HST and full price return shipping?
The Canadian Value services are basically $20 USD which is $5 USD cheaper than sending from the US. Luckily we have Bulk pricing but it comes with the lower declared value cap.
Not only this but the submission process appears to be a form you fill out by hand. Shipping prices will be a deciding factor here because nothing else seems to be ideal aside from the prospect of mitigating risk.
Imo if the last couple years taught us anything it’s that adding a middleman increases risk, not mitigates it.
The customs thing is nice but I’ve never had an issue with needing to pay customs on my submissions
Very valid. Mitigating risk is the selling point here I guess. A lot of people I know are too scared to send their cards over the border.
For me personally though, I have never had any trouble sending to PSA myself. I don’t believe I have ever got hit with customs.
Ah makes more sense now
Curious to know the shipping method of the $65 for 20 cards knowing that the $25 option is Canada Post. To my knowledge Canada Post has never been a great option for submissions. I suppose it doesn’t matter too much in this situation if they are handling the risk but still. FedEX has always been what I have used in the past.
Psa canada has been around for quite awhile.
Kdcollectibles run by Kevin Douglas is now a premium psa Dealer in Ontario and believe his prices are now cheaper or atleast the same as the psa canada site for anyone to busy or scared to just send the cards themselves.
$1000 max insurance makes me think it’s Canada Post
I think you might be right, that is a good indicator.
Ill continue to ship direct to psa . I too have never been hit with customs (only 2 subs though). So ill likely just keep doing the same thing …
I think this is the right approach at this time. The prices do not seem cost effective enough to warrant a middle man and the extra wait time associated with that. Cost of shipping your cards to the middle man isn’t reflected here either. Would be even less worthwhile if PSA were to run a special that doesn’t coincide with the Canadian side.
I look forward to hearing first hand feedback from anyone who does try out this process.
I don’t really think PSA ever does this to compete with the price of people sending directly. You’re already their customer. They do it because there are countless people who are too afraid to ship internationally, go through the PSA submission process, etc. Even just on this forum there are plenty of posts of people being intimidated by submitting directly - even people who live in the US. This isn’t to save you money, it’s to reduce friction for people who don’t submit regularly or even at all because they don’t like the current process.
$1k max insurance is rough.
I’m having the strangest sense of deja vu…
I was almost excited!
Beat me to it. Maybe PSA Canada will learn something from Ludkins UK/PSA UK.
